Casa Ony y Luis
My review: Owners of this Casa Particular, Ony and Luis are very friendly and helpfull. The atmosphere in this nice casa is very peaceful, looking out over the rural area of Vinales. In the morning you can wake up with the sounds of cocks and horses coming by over the dirt road in front of the casa. In a few minutes you can walk to 'the center' of Vinales with some nice shops and bars/restaurants.
Casa specifics: Quiet, Fantastic hosts, Comfortable, Cozy, Hidden gem, Roomy, Romantic, Charming, Beautiful, Safe, Children in the house
Amenities: Private entrance, Airconditioning, Private bathroom, Minibar, Breakfast service, Dinner service, Bathroom with shower, Private parking
How was your room?: The room was perfect; it was more like a complete house: living room, dining table, bathroom, bedroom and a fridge with free[!] juices. Off course the porch with rocking chairs must be mentioned here...
How was the food they offer?: The food was great! No wonder, because Luis is a chef at one of the bigger hotels in Vinales and we think he taught Ony how to cook very well too.
Other services they offer: Arranging any excursion available in Vinales.
Other comments: We definitely recommend to stay in Casa Particulars when travelling to Cuba in general. More specific, we think Ony and Luis have the best Casa in Vinales.

Casa Oni y Luis
My review about the casa: My parents and I travelled to Cuba in October. We stayed with Oni and Luis for a few nights and they were just the loveliest family. Some of the best food we had in Cuba, which is always a massive bonus! I cannot express how lovely they were. The lobster my mum asked Luis to cook for my birthday was just great, and they even arranged for a huge birthday cake for me! Such a friendly family and lovely lovely house. Would definitely recommend it to anyone if you want to spend some time with friendly welcoming people! Thanks again for a great exeprience in this beautiful valley! The Evans family.
Casa specifics: Fantastic hosts, Comfortable, Cozy, Romantic, Charming, Safe, Patio
Amenities: Parking service, Private entrance, Airconditioning, Private bathroom, Minibar, Balcony, Breakfast service, Dinner service, Extra bed available, Bathroom with shower, Private parking
How was the food they offer?: The food was really tasty, we were really spoilt by Luis's chef qualities!

Casa Ony y Luis
My review: This is fantastic little casa, and we were so glad we found it through the Cuba Junkie website. Ony and Luis go out of their way to make you feel welcome. We got picked up and dropped off at the Viazul bus station in Luis' car. As non-Spanish speakers, we were relived to find out that Luis' English is pretty good. He was also great at rapidly organizing bike rentals for us, and giving us advise as to where to go and what to see.
The location of the casa was great; about a 10 minute walk from the town square, and with nice views of the Mogotes from their porch. The distance from the square means you don't get the noise of the traffic on the main road, or the nightly musicfest. However, unless you're a very heavy sleeper or were born on a farm, it would still be advisable to bring earplugs. The roosters are very loud (and tend to start at 4am), and dogs, horses and pigs are all audible from your room.
The main room was a good size, with a colourful living area and a nice dining room. All houses in Vinales appear to have shuttered windows without panes, and there were quite a few mosquito's and noseeums in the area, so it's advisable to bring DEET with you, as we got a few bites in the night.
The fridge was a nice touch, with delicious complimentary juices (all freshly blended), such as guava, apple, mango and grapefruit. It also contained a selection of pops/bottle water (CUC$1) and beers (CUC$1.50). For drinks though, you couldn't beat one of Luis' mojitos. The mojitos were the best we had in Cuba (possibly because they were also the only ones that used fresh lime), and when you see Luis snipping away at the mint on the porch, you know the ingredients are fresh! They were only CUC$2 each, and came with a little cheese and olive platter on the side which took the edge off our appetites in the mid afternoon. We spent a good portion of our time sitting out on the veranda on our rocking chairs guzzling mojitos and watching the world go by!
We wholeheartedly recommend this casa, and if we were to return to the area, we'd definitely book there again.
Casa specifics: Fantastic hosts, Comfortable, Cozy, Hidden gem, Roomy, Charming, Beautiful, Safe, Children in the house, Patio
Amenities: Private entrance, Airconditioning, Private bathroom, Minibar, Laundry service, Breakfast service, Dinner service, Bathroom with shower
How was your room?: The bedroom was a good size and felt warm and cosy. It has two twin-size beds, which would be a slight squeeze to share, but were clean and comfortable. Between them there's a good air conditioning unit that belted out cool air and was relatively quiet.
How was the food they offer?: The food was excellent. We ate at the casa every night because the food was so good! Evening dinners cost CUC$8 and consisted of a soup, a salad, a fruit salad, rice and the main course. After a week in Havana, which we found lacked good fruit and veg (and where everything seems to be deep-fried), it was awesome to have so much fresh produce. We had fish, paella and a lobster dinner on the three nights we stayed, and we both rank the lobster as not only the best meal we had in Cuba, but up there with one of the best meals we've ever had! Breakfasts (CUC$4) were also very good, and consisted of eggs, fruit salad, shortbread, Cuban croquette potatoes, eggs, pancakes and a thermos of coffee.
Other services they offer: They did our laundry for us, and organized bicycles.

Casa Ony & Luis, Vinales
My review: We stayed 2 nights in casa Ony and Luis and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. A little out of the centre of Vinales (around 10 minutes walk), you really have peace and quiet and can enjoy sitting on the porch with the view of the Mogotes. Luis and Ony are excellent hosts - and we enjoyed a delicious breakfast each morning and because Luis is a chef (cooking is his passion), we also had one of the best meals in Cuba! Don't miss the opportunity to have dinner at the casa and ask Luis to make his famous mojito which is also the best we've had!
Casa specifics: Quiet, Comfortable, Children in the house, Pets in the house, Patio
Amenities: Airconditioning, Private bathroom, Laundry service, Breakfast service, Dinner service, Bathroom with shower
How was your room?: Room is comfortable, with 2 large beds and air conditioning. You have your own private bathroom and the living are is also for the guests.
How was the food they offer?: The food was excellent - see review above - we especially appreciated the complementary juices - papaya, guava, pineapple which Ony which was always topped up in the fridge for us.
Other services they offer: Because we had been traveling quite a lot, we needed to do some laundry, this was no problem and everything was ready in a day.

Casa Ony y Luis
During our West Cuba round trip we also spent 3 nights at Ony y Luis casa... Though we were referred to them in the first place we would not have exchanged the place for any other! The whole family was very welcoming, offering a small apartment comprising bedroom, bathroom and diningroom with generously filled fridge to ourselves. Luis is a fantastic cook (portions served could have filled two more persons :op) and Ony's mojitos are the very best we've had on the entire trip. The terrace with rocking chairs invites to relaxing evenings as much as does the roof top from where you can overlook most of the valley and enjoy the sunset. Being situated at the end of a road you won't be disturbed by traffic noise but can fully immerge yourself in the sounds of nature. Both were extremely he! lpfull in planning our next part of the trip the led to Trinidad as well as helping me out of the very embarassing situation of having locked myself out from my suitcase (blush). We can't commend them enough. Thanks again

Casa Ony y Luis
Seriously, Luis's mojitos are the best. We tried lot's on our 3 week trip and never found a better one. Even when the Ambus Mundos (posh hotel in Havana where Hemingway stayed) insisted theirs were the best, we said, well, you've never tried Luis's in Vinales! You will sit on your rocking chair on the porch and watch Luis pick the mint from his garden. Sometimes you'll get complimentary cheese and olives with it. You'll watch people riding by on horses, chickens scratching , hear the neighbour's pig grunting, and say "hola" to everyone. We stayed for four days and soon got to know people. Luis and Ony, their 10 year old son JesusLuis and the dog Negri made us feel part of the family as soon as we arrived. The accomodation is excellent,as previously described, and the food go! od. We were particularly charmed by Negri the dog waiting for us at the corner and leading us home every night. We know we're not special, but we felt it.
We are two (older) English ladies on our first trip to Cuba and Ony y Luis's Casa was a great place to relax and be looked after. It's a little out of the village, but this is a bonus, as a) you don't get the noise from the music in the square b) you get great views of the mogotes from your verandah and b) the walk to the Casa down the dirt road and meeting and chatting to people en route is memorable. I can't imagine staying anywhere else in Vinales -though you'll get plenty of offers when the bus arrives -stick with Luis -if you book ahead ("Villa Cristal " has Internet and can book it for you), Luis's big smile will be waiting for you at the bus stop.

How was your room?: Spacious, with separate living room
How was the food they offer?: Excellent -Luis is a chef at a local hotel.
Other services they offer: Laundry, taxi, excursions =anything you ask for, they will do their utmost.
Other comments: Can't wait to go back.

Casa Ony y Luis
We think there are not enough words to describe how pleasant was our stay at Ony's and Luis casa and to say THANK YOU to our lovely hosts.
These people are adorable. Positive energy that shines from them made this visit unforgettable.
They were kind to offer us a ride to bus stop with our heavy luggage, we really appreciated that..
We stayed just for 3 nights, but we would really love to stay longer if we had that opportunity.
Let us tell you something about "la casa". The location is perfect! If you want to be a bit "isolated" and you need a quite place to stay, this is the house for you. It is just 3-4 blocks away from the heart of the village, less than 10min's by walk, so everything is pretty close. There are no cars in the street, every morning you will wake up with roosters.
The room is a big enough just for sleeping, but you will have living&dining room just for you if you want to sit and relax. We recommend you relaxing on the porch over some natural juices and the view of beautiful "mogotes".
The bathroom with shower is pretty big and it is just next to your bedroom.
FOOD. The best we had in Cuba!!! The meals are huuugeeee and delicious. Each morning we had so many different varieties of food on our table, that we didn't know where to start and where to finish;).
You can expect fruits&vegatables, eggs, toast bread, butter, honey, delicious little pancakes, cheese, ham..and so on..coffee with milk and juices are a must.
We had a fridge which was filled with complimentary natural juices (guava, orange, pineapple, mango..)
You can purchase sodas or water for reasonable price.
We ate fish, and we can say that el jefe de la cocina de hotel La Ermita can be very proud on his wife and the way she cooks! You don't need to experiment with paladares in Vinales.
Lobster at Ony and Luis is highly recommended!!!
One thing is obvious..next time when we come to Vinales, we know where we'll stay, and there is no doubt about that.
