Casa Lumino y Heriberto
We were supposed to stay two nights but due to my suitcase not having arrived in Havana, we had to cancel one night and only arrived one day later. It was no problem and Lumino and Heriberto were very caring and really helped a lot with my lost suitcase. The generosity (welcome drink - fresh mango juice), the excellent food, the "feeling at home", the nice and interesting chats with Lumino... all that made our stay an unforgettable one!!... How was the food?: The food was really good. It was the first time for me to eat lobster, yuca and boniato (sweet potatoes), served with delicious black been soup, rice, salad and the best fried bananas I have ever eaten. Lumino really is a great cook, and the fruit platter and omlette the next morning were also "yummi". We wou! ld have loved to stay another evening to enjoy this delicious dinner!
Casa specifics: Fantastic hosts, Hidden gem, Charming
Amenities: Private entrance, Airconditioning, Private bathroom, Breakfast service, Dinner service, Bathroom with shower
How was the room?: basic, but very clean with an excellent working shower. The room is located next to the main house, separated only by a nice roofed terrace, where we enjoyed our meals and a nice and quiet evening in the rocking chairs - nice ambience!
Other Comments: We really do recommend the Casa Lumino & Heriberto if you wish to get to know really friendly Cuban people, open-minded and willing to share stories of their life. For us, it was such a memorizing experience, the openness, the friendlyness, the helpfulness... the casa is a little hard to find (not on a main road), but it is worth it looking for it... only a 5 minutes walk from the main plaza of Vinales... quiet location, except for the neighbor's cocks... but go there and hear yourself :-)"

Casa Lumino y Heriberto
We loved the area of Vinales and our stay with Lumino and Heriberto was unforgettable.
We came here by rented car which we could park safely in the street (dead end) next to the Casa. You pay a little amount to the guard.
Lumino with her sunny character, her humorous talking and laughs, prepared us every morning a good breakfast and a fantastic dinner at night. Heriberto knows the area very well.
They really made us feel at home. A nice little walk brings you in the heart of Vinales.
Try to avoid Saturday night because of the very loud and modern music from the central place until early morning. Fortunately we didnt stay directly around this place.

Casa Lumino and Herbierto
This was our first experience staying in a casa particular, and I must say, we were impressed! We had no idea what to expect when we arrived from Havana. The casa is tucked away off of the road and presents a very private setting. Lumino, and her son, Heriberto made us feel immediately welcome. They speak limited English, but by gestures and great humor, we got by just fine. They kept us laughing and very well fed. The delicious food and drinks just kept coming!
The room was simple, yet absolutely spotless. The bathroom was immaculate! Air-conditioning cold! Lumino and Heriberto arranged for us to go horseback riding in the Vinales valley with "Cowboy Manuel". What a amazing experience. We rode for over 6 hours through some of the most breathtaking scenery imaginable! We went deep into a cave where we swam in a icy cool pool. Lumino showed us where we could go at night Salsa dancing. We danced the night away at an outdoor venue, met some friendly locals and walked home(feeling very safe)at 3 am. After three days in Vinales, we were sad to go. We stayed in 2 more guest houses and a hotel while in Cuba, and I must say, Casa Lumino was the absolute best. Highly recommended!

Casa Lumino y Heriberto
Simply amazing. Lumino is like a good grandmother to her guests. She provides delicious meals and offers a lot of varieties when compared to other casas.
The separate house comes with a queen-sized bed (and a small one) and separate bathroom with warm water. The whole apartment is in very good shape and state (as Heriberto continously repairs any minor problems). There is a fantastic patio which offers many opportunities to get into contact with the whole familiy. During our stay, I suffered from fever for 1.5 days and the whole family took so much care of me (organizing a doctor, providing soups, pain relievers, tea from medical plants and fresh mango juice 3x per day). They also helped with organising a local tour. In our eyes, there is no better place to stay in Cuba.
Casa style: Quiet, Fantastic hosts, Beautiful, Safe

Casa Lumino y Heriberto
My husband and I stayed there and had the best casa experience from cuba. Our hosts were amazing, the food was great and they helped us arrange a great trek to a cave where we could hike in with a guide and swim in one of the pools. We highly recommend at least 3 days in Vinales, and in the good care of Lumino and Heriberto you can't go wrong.
Casa style: Quiet, Comfertable, Cozy, Hidden gem, Charming, Safe
Amenities: Private entrance, Private bathroom,
How was your room?: Clean, big, perfect for 2-3 people.
How was the food the offer?: Food was the best we had in cuba.
Other services they offer: They arranged a local guide to take us on a trek. They know everyone in town.

Casa Lumino y Heriberto
Lumino’s place gives you more privacy than any other place as the cabin is separate from the house. It is also newly renovated which is a nice break from the sometimes rundown places in Cuba. Lumino is an extraordinary person who will help you with practically anything you need, and make you feel very comfortable and home in her casa.
Can't say enough good stuff about the family and accommodation, pretty much the best place we stayed at in Cuba.
How was your room?: The room has AC and a fan + one queen and one single bed The bathroom has new tiles with hot and cold water. A large mirror hangs on the wall and you have a table and a chair.
How was the food the offer?: Lumino cooks really well and feeds you lots of food, and she'll accommodate any particular diet need. During the day she will offer fruits and snacks, water and whatever she might have handy to give you. This family is extremely generous and takes care of their guests as if you were family.

Casa Lumino
& Heriberto
We stayed at Casa Lumino y Heriberto in Vinales and were thoroughly satisfied with the friendly, helpful family and wonderful vegetarian (at our request) food. The independent room gives you a very private atmosphere. Sharing with Lumino and her family was one of the high points of our Cuban adventure....it is highly recommended....we really felt at home.

Casa Lumino
& Heriberto
In July 08, we were lucky enough to spend 3 nights at Casa Lumino in Vinales. This has been a very relaxing stay in a wonderful area. This stay has been special thanks to Lumino's generous personality and her wonderful cooking, the best we have had in Cuba. She also did everything she could to help in any possible way to optimize our stay and help us book means of transportation or activities. Do not hesitate to go there and get a very warm and sincere welcome!

Casa Lumino
& Heriberto
We
recently returned from Cuba and ended our 2 weeks with a 4
day stay at Casa Lumino in Vinales. We couldn’t have
asked for a nicer place to stay, run by the warm and generous
Lumino and her son Heriberto. They really are the most hospitable
people you could hope to meet, and nothing was ever too much
trouble for them. It’s worth noting that on arriving
at Lumino’s after a long and tiring journey from Trinidad,
she gave us a much needed mango juice drink on the house.
Hers was the only casa to do this, and this action typified
her generosity. Heriberto also makes a mean mojito! If you’re
in Vinales then this is the place to stay.

Casa Lumino
& Heriberto
Lumino
is the grandmother of this casa and a vivid lady who likes
to talk to you in slow spanish and help you where she can.
Her son Heriberto speaks a few words of english and is very
friendly.
The room is separated from the house and has aircon, fan and
private bathroom with toilet and bath/shower with hot and
cold water.
Outside you can sit and relax in the patio and enjoy the fresh
mango juice from Lumino.
If you like a walk, ask if Lumino will give you a tour in
the village.
You can park you car in the small street next to the house,
1 CUC a night.
Lumino and Heriberto were a great help to us when we needed
a new tyre for our car.
Go to Vinales, ask for Lumino (everybody knows her) and have
a wonderful stay!

Casa Lumino
& Heriberto
Vinales
is a great place to end your trip, it is calm, beautiful and
life goes at a slower pace, a couple of days will be well
spent there. Lumino will set you up with anything you need,
and as far as things to do, you have the Indian caverns, horseback
riding, gorgeous walks an hikes in the valley, music and dance
at the Casa de la Musica in the evenings (this is so much
fun!)and the beach about 45 min away by car.
You can get a driver to take you up north to the beautiful
calm beaches with crystal blue waters, but watch out for mosquitoes,
sometimes when there is no wind it can get uncomfortable.
The beaches are almost empty, and if you walk to the left
when you arrive, you can choose between a bunch of different
ones. We walked for about 10-15 min to the left, in and out
of the forest till we found a big
tree in the middle of the beach which provided great shade
in the hot sun.
Lumino’s
place gives you more privacy than any other place as the cabin
is separate from the house, it is also newly built which is
a nice break from the sometimes run down places in Cuba. Lumino
is an extraordinary person who will help you with practically
anything you need, and make you feel very comfortable and
home in her casa.
Your travel medicine kit should consist of :
Pain
reliever/fever reducer
Anti diarrhea pills !!!!
Antibiotics (if you have them)
Band aid
Anti bacterial cream for any cuts
ear plugs
Sunscreen
Bring all the shampoo, conditioner, tampons, cremes, toothpaste
etc. you are going to need for the trip, as things are either
hard to find, or outrageously
expensive. Do not rely on buying things you need Toilet paper
(it is good to bring a roll or two) or Kleenex for any need.
Also, as food sometimes is hard to find, I recommend some
power bars to tie you over when you get hungry, and/or any
granola, trail mix, dried nuts and
fruits, this WILL come in handy.
PS.
Only if you feel like it am I mentioning this, please feel
free to do what ever you want:
If there is any medicine or old clothes, Spanish written magazines
or books, kids stuff like old toys, etc, Cuba is the perfect
place for it, Lumino or anyone else will literally take anything
you have to spare.
There is a shortage of everything in Cuba, except for hospitality.
Kind
regards,
Caterina

Casa Lumino
& Heriberto
Their
room is a in a new separate building, very clean, on-suite
with a wonderful outdoor patio. It is extremely private. The
meals were some of the best we had on our trip again for similar
prices. We were packed off with bread fruit & freshly
squeezed fruit juice for our daily trips. They make fabulous
mojitos and have a great friend called Ismael who teaches
English Language (and speaks many others) and does walking
tours. We tried many fruits & vegetables and Lumino kindly
gave me a cooking lesson on how to make Banana Fritter omlette
delicious!
