FL Hostel

My review: I can't say enough great things about Liz, the Casa's host. She and her partner have great experience in hospitality and have worked hard to make sure this Casa meets western standards. Liz met us with a beaming smile and helped orientate us, as we'd only just arrived in the country. She was happy to give up her time and answer all of our questions about her fascinating country.
She also has great practical advice about money, travel, food and jazz locations.
We have no doubts that we'd be in touch with her when we return to Cuba.

How was your room?: The room was extremely clean, light and airy, this Casa was our favourite in Cuba. It came with a bedroom, bathroom and kitchen. It also has AC.

How was the food they offer?: We ate out at paladars

FL Hostel

My review: I found this apartment on couchsurfing.com. While I was staying in Varadero I called the hostess and arranged a meeting with her. Upon arrival in Havana, I immediately settled in her apartment. I was pleasantly surprised when I met Lisa, the landlady. She speaks Russian very well. Unfortunately, I do not know any other languages, just Russian language. Regarding the apartment, it is located close to the Capitol, 15 minutes by foot. You can take a bike and then it would take 3 minutes.

The apartment itself is very spacious. The bathroom and the toilet are together, but it did not bother me since I was staying alone. There is a double bed in the bedroom. There is a large dining room with kitchen and a gas cooker, so you can prepare food. There is also a refrigerator. Near the apartment there is a supermarket where you can buy some food. I almost forgot, the apartment was only for me, I didn’t have to share the place with anyone like in the other places I stay while in Cuba. The owner doesn’t live there. I have to say that I really liked the apartment. I was traveling around Cuba during 2 weeks and I lived in 10 apartments. But Lisa’s apartment left a very good impression. I consider that the relation price - quality is fully consistent.
