Reviews 2016 and older Hostal OasisJan 20 2016 Hostal OasisMy review: SUPERB, period! How was your room?: I expected just a "room with a private bathroom" and ended up with a suite with a furnished living room, a mini fridge, a bedroom with 2 beds, and a bathroom that has two toilets and a tub. Everything is clean and tidy. The beds are not the most comfy but sufficient for what they are. How was the food they offer?: OH MY GOD! Damari, the hostess, can literally turn the most ordinary food into a feast! The food she made for me and my partner was the best we had during our entire journey. You can tell that the food by Damari was prepared with heart and passion. We stayed at the place for 3 nights. After the first dinner, we knew that we didn't need to look any further for food in Santa Clara. We had all our suppers and breakfasts prepared by Damari. We like hot and spicy food but hot sauce was no where to be found in SC, Damari thus made a jar of fresh hot sauce for us from scratch at home. Where else can you possibly find this kind of hospitality!? Other services they offer: Basically, for a B&B type of accommodation, Hostal Oasis has taken care of all my needs - a clean place to stay, food of unsurpassed quality, friendly host family to stay with. Carlos also arranged airport pickup and local transportation for us that took us to the Viazul bus station the day we left the city. He had a local map, some beers and bottle water ready for us upon our arrival. Very thoughtful of him! Our checked luggage didn't arrive with us in SC and Carlos and Damari helped us made at least a dozen phone calls in order to get hold of someone at the lost and found department at the SC airport. Some of those calls had had them stay on the line for a long time! Damari even got her sister in Toronto involved to help us phone Westjet about our delayed luggage. We can't thank enough for what the family has done for us! Other comments: The wonderful hospitality of Carlos and Damari, with their little boy Samuel (who's very quiet and polite), has made our initially far-from-perfect trip in SC almost nearly perfect and pleasantly memorable at the end! We will definitely go back to them next time we travel to SC. Dec 15 2014
Hostal OasisMy review: I lived 2 days in Hostal Oasis in Santa Clara at the end of November 2014. I had a wonderful stay. The casa is very well located. I could walk and explore the city without any problem. Damari, Carlos and little Samuel are very nice and welcoming. I felt like a queen. We always served me excellent meals for lunch and dinner in the evening. As I was leaving on the noon via bus, they even gave me a lunch to go. They picked me to the bus station and carried me to the end of my stay. The room is very large with bathroom, private lounge and a refrigerator with beverage. As I was midterm my stay, Damari washed all my clothes in the machine. I was very lucky to meet them and it is with pleasure that I return with my husband and my two children. Thank you! I have great memories! Dec 6 2014
Hostal OasisMy review: It was all I was looking for... a very clean place to stay with very lovely people who made me feel at home. How was your room?: They offer 3 separate rooms ( livingroom, bedroom and washroom), more than what I needed. How was the food they offer?: The food was EXCELLENT for a great price. They offer a very nice variety and very tasty. The presentation was very nice as well. I had flan for dessert for the first time. DELICIOUS!!! Other services they offer: They can help you arrange for a taxi to pick you up from the airport or bus terminal and to take you back. You have to pay to the taxi driver separate, but it is worth to have someone waiting for you. If you take any taxi outside the airport they will charge you double. Other comments: I will recommend this casa to any of my friends. I had a great time and I will go back again. It was a blessing to meet the owners ( Carlos and Damari) They are very friendly and they are always trying their best to make you feel like one member of the family. Carlos plays the piano beautifully and he played music while I was having the delicious dinner Damari prepared for me. It was a delight!!! June 2 2014
Hostal OasisMy review: As stated by the previous reviewer, Lisbet Macias, Hostal Oasis is a great place to stay while in Santa Clara. I like that guests are provided their own sitting room as well as the bedroom and a private bathroom. Just a bit more space should one need a quiet place to relax after a busy day around town. Plenty of ventiltion as well as air conditioning if it gets too hot. The location is a few blocks off Parque Vidal so I think it is a bit quieter. Still very easy to walk to all of the various cultural venues, bars, restaurants, etc. I had several wonderful meals at Hostal Oasis. Right from the initial email contact when I was making my reservation, they asked if there was any food that I was allergic to or did not like so that they could make sure everything was safe. I don't have any allergies, but know of other people who do have dietary restrictions. I was impressed with Carlos and Damari's thoughtfulness in that regard. How was your room?: The bedroom could be closed off from the sitting room which would be very good should your travelling companion(s) want to stay up longer to read, write or watch tv. The bed I slept in was clean and comfortable, and I slept well there. How was the food they offer?: The food was delicious, varied and plentiful. Not only is Damari a very good cook, she was always trying to prepare the types of dishes that you prefer. Finally I told her that I would gladly eat anything that she made for me. That is how I had the opportunity to try a new fruit, a Mamey. Never heard of it before, but it was very tasty. Other services they offer: Carlos can arrange for a ride to and from the Sanata Clara airport or the Viazul bus station. As well, transportation to other destinations or for day trips can be arranged Other comments: Damari and Carlos are warm and caring people. They really go out of their way not just to make you feel at home, but to help you in whatever way they can. Hostal OASIS is at 81 Nazareno Street, Santa Clara, Cuba. It is located downtown at a walking distance from Parque Vidal, the main plaza, and from all the places around the park like (banks, stores cafeterias, internet places…etc) There was a patio decorated with beautiful natural plants where we used to sit and shared with the family.
