Hostal Santa Elena
My review: I have been travelling to Cuba three times a year since 1996, staying mainly in casa particulares.
I tend not to expect too much from these places, but always find them friendy and comfortable, however, Casa Santa Elena is something else.
The house itself is superb, the accommodation is excellent, the food is good and the owner and his wife are very helpful.
The accommodation is on the first floor, with a balcony overlooking a very quiet area of Sancti Spiritus. There are two on suit bedrooms, both large, a large open plan lounge/dining area, and under construction in 2011 was a rooftop pool and bar. All this for not a lot of money.
Going to Sancti Spiritus? Then this is the place to stay.
The owner also speaks German.

My review: Sancti Spirtus is a must on the list to visit when you travel Cuba, and this house is a must stay. It is close to all attractions. The Host Elio and Sara were very outgoing, funny and just a delight to be with. There helper China was there for your every need without asking. Could not have had a better cleaner or comfortable home. We asked Elio to be our guide for the two days we were there. This guy is a history book for Sancti Spiritus and Cuba. I also think he knew everyone in town. The food was outstanding. We used the horse carriages for taxis to get around, very inexpensive. We had a blast. Did I mention the food was awesome?

My review: There were four of us on vacation and right away Sara and Elio made us feel right at home. We talked for hours and got aquainted like family. We also had problems with the bus station in Sancti Spiritus and if it had not been for Elio we might have missed our flight back to Mexico. Of the four places that we stayed, Santa Elena was the most beautiful home that we visited.

How was your room?: Emaculate, roomy snd secure. We had our own key to the bedroom door.
How was the food they offer?: The best..... Fruits and Salad at every meal and the entrées were fantastic. The went out of their way to make us coffee like we have in Mexico and the United States.
Other services they offer: Elio took us all over town and showed us places that we never would have found. He also got us to use the horse drawn carts which was a blast. We might have spent the money to use taxi's if we had not been shown how much fun the other form of transportation was.

I certainly found the best! What a place and what a cook! Visitors will find no better casa in Cuba, of that I am sure.
