Casa Erenya's
Address: Unknown
Erenya is an ideal host: she is caring enough to make you feel safe and welcome, but she leaves you alone if you like to be alone or be more independent.
Casa style: Fantastic hosts, Charming, Safe
Amenities: Airconditioning, Private bathroom, Minibar, Garden,
How was your room?: It was an independent room with a private bathroom.
Our room has two beds and a frigo bar.
It was very clean and private.
How was the food the offer?: We had GREAT dinners and breakfast there.
My husband had some stomach problems (nothing related with Erenya's food), and she cooked speccial food for him (which was very very good, so I had to "help" him with the soup!).
Other services they offer: Also, she called a friend of her who is a doctor to check my husband. The doctor came as soon as Erenya called her, and gave medicines to my husband. Thanks to this, we were able to met all the fanatastic places close to Viñales.
We had just a little issue with the water heater, which Erenya fixed as soon as we told her. Also, the neighboor's roosters were singing during the morning... you are in Viñales, so hope you are expecting some "country" noices, which make the experience more interesting.
Other comments: Even, if Erenya is not a "super sparkling" cuban (like many tourist seems to look for), she is a very decent and kind woman, who makes her works with a lot of dedication and caring. We couldn't ask for more.
ps: if you want to help with something, please keep in mind to bring medicines. Erenya's dauther is studing medicine, so she can distribuite them. Also, magazines in Spanish will be great for them

Puerto Esperanza is a village at the coast, nearby Viñales. It is quiet, there aren't many tourists. The environment is beautiful, you can make a trip with a horse cart. The atmosphere in the village is very nice, the people are friendly.
Olga and her husband are lovely, hospitable people.
They like to give you information about Cuba. They are very helpful: when you are looking for a next place to stay, they call for you.
The house is charming and comfortable, with 2 bedrooms (with a mosquito net), a bathroom, a sitting room and a balcony. There is a fan.
You have a private entrance.
You can have breakfast and dinner. The food is delicious.

Casa Villa Sara y Jorge

La Colchoneria, Vinales, Pinar del Rio, Cuba

We spent 5 nights at Villa Sara y Jorge in Vinales. Sara has been running her casa for 10 years and her guest books are full of well deserved praise. We felt so welcome at this clean and spacious home, tucked down a backstreet in a quiet neighbourhood.
It was great to sit on the porch in rocking chairs, sipping a cool lemonade (or mojito) and watch the time pass by. Neighbours greeted us as though we were old friends and we found ourselves invited into houses left and right. Sara and Jorge were wonderful hosts, telling us all about Vinales and the area and everything that was on offer thereabouts. We followed their advise on everything and had an excellent time!
The room was large with two double beds, air-conditioning and fan. It came with a stocked fridge (water, juice, soda and beer), and private bath with a great shower. The restaurants in Vinales are mostly State owned and we ate breakfasts and dinners prepared by Sara. She is a terrific cook and takes great pride in offering up really delicious and enormous meals with traditional flavours and styles of cooking. She does equally well with vegetarian meals. I came home with several recipes for soups, sauces and deserts.
Jorge is a great talker and we found them both excellent sources of information not just for the area, but for every facet of life in Cuba. We left wishing we could stay longer. Strongly, strongly recommend a stay here!
call ahead and Sara or Jorge will meet you off the bus!

Casa Carmelo y Olga
Pasaje Camilo Cienfuegos no 44
Viñales, Pinar del Rio, Cuba
Tel: +53 (0)48 69665820
My family and I just returned from a holiday in the Western part of Cuba, we stayed in Viñales for a week and were more than happy with our casa particular. A very nice teacher called Olga runs it together with her husband Carmelo and the whole family who are about the house all the time helping out. They rent out two lovely double rooms with ensuite bathrooms each for 15 CUC per room per night. The house is in a quiet side street where you can watch people going about their daily business from the rocking chairs on the porch and see real Cuban life. All the family and their neighbours are very kind and friendly, Olga speaks very good English (she used to teach it) so not being fluent in Spanish is no problem. If you like, Olga cooks dinner and breakfast. She's a wonderful cook, every meal is simply delicious. In short we felt very welcome and well looked after at Olga and Carmelo's and couldn't have wished for a better place to stay, it was perfect.

While on a bike tour, our group stayed at Hotel La Ermita in Vinales where I had arroz con leche that I would dream about for the next eight days before returning to this same hotel while travelling solo with one thing in mind--dessert. Again I visited the chef to pay compliments, and in conversation about where i would spend my next two nights in Vinales, he offered his sister and brother's casa, as his own was reserved. Villa Marbely y Rauniel was truly like coming home, with the chef, his wife, and son popping by in the evenings for visits while I was there; it was like having a family in Cuba. Everyone was so warm and friendly, and my hosts were eager to please, offering advice and cooking things I was eager to try. And cook they did! Dinner was a spread I could barely make a dent in: soup, salad, breads, grilled fish in Rauniel's personal spice blend, rice, beans, malanga, sweet potatoes.... And on my last night there they made the specialty de casa, a sweet and comforting stew of chickpeas, tomatos, root vegetables, and wine that was so deliciously full of flavor that I ate the outrageous portion worthy of at least three people! And of course, there was arroz con leche. My room was very clean and comfortable, with two beds, a fridge stocked with wine, beer, and water, and a private attached bathroom with a fantastic shower! A moment’s walk from the town of Vinales, it is very convenient, but better yet, walk the other way into the country where the sunsets and smells of the street are astounding. If you are looking for a place to really come home too after hot and tired days exploring the beautifully scenic Pinar del Rio area, come here, where the conversations in broken English are as warming as the genuine laughter and passionately prepared food.
