Casa Magyales / Casa El Holandes
My review: I and three of my friendas tried to get in touch with Casa El Holandes before we went to Cuba. Herman (one of the owners) was very helpful and accessible. He speaks English very well and responds to e-mails quickly.
Herman told us that his casa unfortunately was full for the nights we asked about, but he immediatly arranged for us to stay at a casa across the street from his for the same price. The name of the casa we stayed at was Casa Magyales. We had a very, very good time there. They had two beautiful rooftop terraces, a very friendly hostess and two airconditioned rooms with separate baths. In Casa Magyales there are a total of two rooms which share a separate floor from the rest of the family, it felt very spacious compared to other casas. In Casa Holandes there are more rooms and you will have better opportunities to meet other travellers. Even though we did not stay at Casa Holandes Herman invited us to their New Years Eve dinner, which also was very nice.
Me and my friends definitely recommend both Casa Magyales and Casa Holandes for your stay in Trinidad, go there to meet super friendly hosts and enjoy Trinidad!
How was your room?: Casa Magyales: Very good, airconditioned, private bathrooms, pretty comfortable beds. Good rooms.
How was the food they offer?: Casa Magyales: We only had breakfast here. They served the very, VERY, typical cuban breakfast of juice, coffee, bread, butter, omelet, and some fruit for 4 CUC per person/day.
Cas Holandes: We had New Years Eve buffet here for 20 CUC per person. It was a very good buffet, the shrimps were especially good.
Other services they offer: Casa El Holandes: Herman and Yolanda (the owners) were very helpful in helping us find a casa in Vinales (were we went after Trinidad). Ask them for help and you will definitely get it! In Vinales they helped us get a room at the casa of Teresa Collazo, which was also very nice (they only speak spanish) and which I recommend.
Herman and Yolanda also have a farm outside Vinales. I never tried this myself but they can help you arrange a visit. |
