Casa Colonial Mercedes
My review: Buffff, this is a premium five stars and a half house, I didn't stay in any other houses in Vinales but will be difficult to improve this one, mostly due to Mercedes, who is the person who will care of you and help you with any kind of thing. She, her son Maikel and her family are lovely, and if you speak Spanish you will have great chats with them (also, Maikel is fluent in French and English).
The location is very convenient, just at one side of the town, close to main square in the town, services, but also close to cross country bike and hike routes.
In addition to hosts' charm, the breakfast and dinner are just fabulous, you sholidn't stop to think in going outside for dinner unless you want to try something else worst.
The only bad thing is you can get stuck in the house after staying in it and knowing Mercedes :-D

Casa Colonial Mercedes
My review: Beautiful colonial casa in the wonderful valley of Vinales. Mercedes and Maikel are really lovely people. They make you feel like at home. Room is huge, clean with air conditioner and security lock. You also have a lounge and the patio all for you! Mercedes's food is simply delicious!!! Don't miss her chicken, beans soup with chorizo and her flan!!! All divine! I highly recommend this casa, Mercedes is a wonderful woman very chatty and really sweet, I wish we could have stayed longer.

My review: My husband and I stayed three nights in Casa Colonial Mercedes and loved every minute of it!
Simple and perfectly clean room. It was cleaned and made up for us every day which never happened in any other casa in Cuba.
Two large and confortable beds, perfect matterasses and pillows (pretty rare to find) and good air conditioning!
nicely equipped bathroom with soap and hairdryer provvided (never had anywhere else).
we had a private dining room and patio too!
nice location. Though not overlooking the valley it was much quieter than the casas who did (they are on the main street and it is is quite noisy) amd the valley view point is two minutes walking distance anyway
Outstanding treatment from Mercedes!
She is absolutely amazing!
always there for anything at all you needed, incredible cook (the best chicken, not only in cuba, put probably the best in our life), perfect cocktails... and always with a sweet cudling smile! (she even did our laundry for us...)
a true home away from home!
Vinales was our first stop in one month holiday in Cuba and we missed Mercedes every day!
there are no words to thank her enough!!
further more, her son Mikael works for the local travel agency and is therefore able to organize virtually anything for you (trips, horseriding, trecking, taxis... you name it, he will get it settled)!
don't look for anything different,
you've found your perfect stay!

Casa Colonial Mercedes
My review: We loved this casa and it was definitely the best we stayed at in Cuba. The room was lovely, with high ceilings, air-conditioning and the most powerful fan known to man. It came with a little living room, verandah and rocking chairs which enabled us to relax and watch Vinales go about its business. However, what really made Casa Colonial Mercedes special, was its owner, Mercedes. We must have been very trying guests for her as we could hardly speak any Spanish, but she never showed any frustration! In fact, she was lovely, making us fresh fruit smoothies when we arrived (and in fact, whenever we looked a bit hot) and the biggest, best and tastiest meals we ate in the whole time we were in Cuba. Her son Maikel, who speaks several languages fluently, was also very helpful and sorted ou! t a trekking guide for us. We wish we'd stayed longer - two nights just wasn't enough...

How was your room?: The room was air-conditioned and the beds comfortable. Just what we needed after a long day trekking around Vinales.
How was the food they offer?: The food was superb - definitely the best we tasted in Cuba and a highlight of our stay in Vinales. Mercedes is a brilliant cook and provided us with enough food for about 8 hungry people each night (there were only 2 of us!). Her pineapple juices and fruit smoothies were amazing as were the tasty fish dinners.
Other services they offer: Maikel works at one of the local hotels and can arrange a number of trips and onward travel. He booked a guide to take us trekking which was well worth braving the heat and humidity for!

Casa Colonial Mercedes
My review: Casa Colonial Mercedes was the nicest place we stayed at in whole Cuba. We received the warmest welcome and the best food there.
Mercedes together with her cool son Maikel took care of us amazingly. We felt like a part of the family.
It was my birthday when I was there and they prepared several surprises for me including a delicious (and the biggest I ever got) birthday cake.
Mercedes prepared perfect food, I would recommend that you eat in the casa, it's really worth it! It is delcious and plentiful.
If we ever return to Vinales, the reason will be to visit these fantastic sweet people who we truly miss.

Casa Colonial Mercedes
Review
This casa and the owners were just amazing. Mercedes waited for us already at the bus station. The warm water "pipe" was broken, but she immediately called someone to repair it. We've got the best food here during our whole stay in Cuba. Besides this Mercedes was the kindest Cuban who we discussed everything from family, life and politics, even though she didnt speak English and we didnt speak Spanish:) We could have an insight in everyday Cuban life and see how Cubans live.
The only tiny problem was the bed, that was too short for my husband who is 1,90 m.

Review
I highly recommend Casa Colonial!
It's been the best casa on my trip to Cuba. Mercedes is a fabulous cook, and genuinly wonderful, and so is her son Maikel, who speaks perfect english, and is very helpful in arranging the excursions with horses, etc.
The place is very worm, and Mercedes is wonderful. The food that she prepared was the best one I had in all Cuba.
You won't reget choosing this casa.

Review
We stayed for a total of two nights at Casa Mercedes and we can only say the best things about the place and the family. They welcomed us very warmly and treated us like family. The room is very spacious, the breakfast and diner were superb. The amount of food was impossible to finish, although I did my best to empty my plate and usually half of my wife's because I couldn't let this food be wasted. Fresh fruit, home-made potato chips, and the juiciest chicken are just some of the highlights. Meikel, Mercedes' son, is extremely friendly and helpful and can arrange anything you want to do in the area. Also, he speaks perfect english. When we wanted to stay an extra day (which we decided the day of) and the room wasn't available, he arranged for us to stay with their neighbour, who ! was just as friendly. When we continued our trip westwards to Guanahacabibes to go swimming and snorkelling, he even gave us their wet suits (one big for me and one small for the wife). Obviously, this was only possible, since we were coming back to Vinales on our way back. We recommend Casa Mercedes for anyone, who wants to stay in Vinales! Thank you very much, Mercedes and Meikel!
