When I first viewed this casa particular in 2015, I was impressed by how large, modern, and private the upstairs apartment was.  

I stayed there when I next visited Holguín city in 2016 and again in early February 2017, and look forward to staying in this lovely family’s casa later this year. The neighbourhood is lively and interesting, the family is delightful, and I was welcome to spend time downstairs with them (and play with their two little dogs) whenever I wished.  

Mother and daughter are classical singers who enjoy a wide variety of good music and it is a great pleasure to hear them practising or singing along to recorded music, or to listen to music with them and chat about Cuban life. They are well informed about cultural activities in the city, alerting me to public performances and exhibitions that I would otherwise have missed.  

Delicious food, the company of attentive hosts, the chance to meet many neighbours and friends, housekeeping and laundry service, a very quiet and comfortable bedroom, space to spread out, a breezy upstairs patio and rooftop views — what more could one ask for? So much more stimulating than staying in a resort, yet only an hour from the beaches. Highly recommended!
