My review: Because of the good reviews, i booked this hostel in Havana. We arrived in Cuba at night and were welcomed by Clarita, she is very very gently. We had breakfast at her place but stayed with a friend (apt 44). We had breakfast at Clarita, there was so much food! Clarita made us feel welcome and save, and gave us good information about Havana. The room we stayed in was clean and spacious, with a fridge, and it was cleaned every day.
Casa specifics: English speaking, Fantastic hosts, Comfortable, Cozy, Safe
Amenities: Airconditioning, Private bathroom, Minibar, Breakfast service, Bathroom with shower
How was your room?: Clean (and cleaned everyday), spacious
How was the food they offer?: We had breakfast here and there was a lot of food! Fresh fruits, egg, 2 juices, coffee, bread etc. There was so much, we didn't need lunch :)

My review: All that we needed was there. We had to stay one day in La Habana and finally, we stayed five days there, because Maricela, Hector and their son, were so lovely and funny. The breakfast was wonderfull and dinner too. The casa is in the best place to stay in La Habana, near from all, in La Habana Vieja: La casa de la musica, the Malecon is at the end of the street, and so many monuments are around. I recommand it to all travelers, and will visit them this year. Also, they take care of everyone that comes.

How was your room?: Very pretty and so clean!!
How was the food they offer?: There is no other word that: DELICIOUS
Other services they offer: Dinner, tv, air conditionnal, laundry, informations, reservations to others casas..
Other comments: I don't like the word "perfect", but it was perfect.

Casa Marina
(Clarita & Orlando)
Address: Marina #61 e/ Hornos y Vapor, 3er piso, apto 35, Centro Habana, Cuba
Tel: +53 7 8797113
My review: I read a review on Lonely Planet Thorntree Forum and Clarita assisted me at the last minute when our alternative accommodation was cancelled. Clarita and Orlando are very friendly, helpful people. Our room was spacious with a view of the Malecon, clean and tidy. Each room has a stocked mini bar with beer, cooldrinks and water. Best breakfast in Cuba - way too much food, but delicious. She assisted us by phoning friends in other cities/towns we were travelling to and so all our accommodation was booked without us lifting a finger. In fact we had such a great time staying with them that we ended staying 6 nights all together - 4 at the start of our trip and 2 at the end of our trip.
Casa specifics: Quiet, Fantastic hosts, Comfortable, Hidden gem, Safe
Amenities: TV, Airconditioning, Private bathroom, Minibar, Laundry service, Breakfast service, Dinner service, Extra bed available, Bathroom with shower
How was your room?: We had a large room the first 4 nights with 4 beds and the 2nd room is a spacious room with 1 double bed and 1 single bed. Bathroom with bath and shower.
How was the food they offer?: We only had breakfast here, but the food was awesome! Way too much to eat, but good value for money. I loved the fruit cocktail and the toasted ham and cheese sandwich. The platter of fruit was always fresh as was the jugs of fruite juice. All freshly made.
Other services they offer: They speak a bit of English and there assisted us with up to date information and referred us to great casas which were not all listed. I only had one on my list. She also arranged for a taxi to take us to the airport the last day.
Other comments: I would like to upload some pics, but I have not finalised any as yet. I highly recommend this casa and should I return, I don't want to stay with anyone else. It is opposite Parque Maceo and a block off the Malecon which made it such an easy reference point for taxi's to drop us off.

Casa Josefina Orbeal Tamayo
Address: San Nicolas 860, c/ Monte y Tenerife, Havana, Cuba
Tel: +53 7 8679507
My review: I was recommended this casa by a friend and am so glad I stayed here. I stayed for three nights in October 2011. Josefina was a wonderful host who made the best coffee I had in Cuba. She also made a really amazing breakfast and dinner - the food was definitely a highlight! The room was basic but nice and the casa was in a great location - only a quick walk to the Capital and China Town. Josefina had a lot of guide books we could use for our entire stay and she did our washing at a very cheap price. I would definitely stay here again.
Casa specifics: Quiet, Fantastic hosts, Comfortable, Cozy, Hidden gem, Charming, Safe
Amenities: Private bathroom, Laundry service, Ceiling fan, Breakfast service, Dinner service, Bathroom with shower
How was the food they offer?: INCREDIBLE!

Casa Ernesto Rabasa Toledo
Address: Reina 313 el Lealtad y Campanario, Centro Havana, Cuba
Tel: +53 7 8627247 / +53 7 8621166
My review: This casa was recommended to us by the owner of Casa Meyvis as she had to bump us for another reservation as we did not confirm early enough. We arrived later at nightand had some problems finding it as the street La Reina is now called Simon Bolivar. Ernesto met us on the street to greet us. Once we were inside, we found the accommodations to be very pleasant. The ceilings are 20 ft high, and the rooms are quite spacious. Ernesto has 2-3 rooms to offer and one with an extra bed, with a shared bathroom, however entrance to the bathroom is through a private corridor rather than a main hallway.
Perfect location in Centro Havana, only blocks away from the Paseo del Prado. We easily walked to Havana Vieja.
Casa specifics: Quiet, Fantastic hosts, Comfortable, Colonial, Cozy, Hidden gem, Roomy, Charming, Safe
Amenities: Private entrance, Airconditioning, Breakfast service, Queensize bed, Extra bed available, Bathroom with shower
How was your room?: Spacious, clean and comfortable.
How was the food they offer?: Ernesto makes a great breakfast omelette!
Other services they offer: Ernesto is happy to show you to the private parkade a few blocks away, where you can leave your car to be watched for $1 CUC per day.
Other comments: Although Ernesto does not speak English, we managed to communicate with my butchered Spanish - he's a very pleasant guy!
