Casa Tati Lopez

It is true what Casa Junky writes that to appreciate the 'real' more authentic Habana e Habaneros, you should stay in Habana Centro. The touristy Habana Vieja is beautiful but too often the habaneros you meet on the street there only want to sell you cigars, sex, drugs or other things.
Casa Tati Lopez is a great place to take in Central Havana and appreciate the affectionate, warm Cuban character.
Tati and her family really take the idea of 'mi casa es su casa' to heart and will do everything to make your stay comfortable and relaxed. My first night there they gave me a great Cohiba cigar, wine, and constantly offered tea and coffee (at no extra cost)! You will feel at home there. Their balcony is perfect for relaxing in after a busy day.
Although the location looks far from the Habana Vieja area, there are many other nearby places worth visiting:
- Historic hotels - National, Havana Libre
- Callejon Hamill - amazing art murals and live music on Sunday afternoon
- The leafy wide avenues of Vedado
- The Malecon
- The attractive University of Havana campus.
- Nightlife at Casa de la Musica or numerous clubs in Vedado.
- El Barrio Chino for some good Chinese food.

How was your room?: Room has everything you could reasonably ask for including:

Fridge stocked with beer, water, juice
Fan and Airconditioning
How was the food they offer?: The food they offered was healthy and delicious. It was the healthiest, best food I ate in Habana! Always good fruit salads in the morning, and salads and soups in the evening. Delicious omelettes, black bean soup, and ropa vieja - a Cuban beef specialty.
Other services they offer: They will let you have the run of the house and play music on their stereo.

They live in the same building as Pototo - the man on the ground who arranges casas for Cuba Junky. He is a good resource and can help you get things, or make arrangements for travel.
Other comments: Havana Centro may look more rundown and poorer than the restored Vieja area, but that doesn't make it less safe. In fact I think it is more safe. In Vieja, it is the high concentration of wealthy tourists that attract the rougher elements seeking to take advantage of you.

Casa Tati Lopez is a great choice for those travellers who enjoy finding the road less followed, and want to better understand and appreciate Cuban culture and people.

Casa Tati Lopez

Me and my wife stayed with Tati for two days before our flight back to Europe. It was definitely the best experience from the entire Cuba vacation. Tati and her family is just great, everything is perfectly clean, room is nice and cozy as well as the entire apartment. The casa has a nice balcony, where you can see the real life of Centro Havana. And the dinners were really fresh and tasty listening to Radio encyclopedia [best chilled out radio in town] makes the experience almost mystical.

Definitely, great choice in Havana.

Casa Tati is a great place to go to. the hosts are very friendly and the food is delicious|
Its place where you feel at home. the location is good as well, near habana vieja.
