Casa Maritza y Guillen Does Not Honour Reservations
We had booked this casa for our last night in Cuba based on recommendations from Cuba Junky and the reviews on Trip Advisor. As per recommendations from Cuba Junky, we confirmed our reservations and our arrival time with this casa and were told everything was in order. When we arrived by taxi, we were met by a congenial host who took us to our rooms - the problem was that this casa did not look anything like the casa we booked. On further reflection, we realized we were not in the correct casa, but across the hall in the same building. Casa Maritza y Guillen had obviously made arragements with the neighbour to take us in (and hoped we would not notice) as she had given our rooms to someone else.
We went across the hall and rang the bell. The owner of Casa Maritza y Guillen pretended she did not understand us (even though we had the booking confirmation with us and she acknowledged that it was her phone number and address) and indicated that her rooms were occupied.
Cuba Junky booking website indicated to us that we should have been offered an equivalent or better accomadation for the same price. We were offered nothing, and the accomadations that she arranged were not remotely equivalent. One room had no air conditioning and the other had a barely funtioning shower - both rooms were terribly run down.
This was a very disappointing experience which left a bad impression on the last day of our Cuba adventure.
How was your room?: Did not have the opportunity to stay here.
How was the food they offer?: NA
Other services they offer: NA
Other comments: Does not honour confirmed reservations.

Casa Guillen y Maritza
We would like to advise that we had a wonderful stay at Casa Guillen y Maritza, for one week starting January 17, 2011. My Husband and I stayed in one room and my adult son stayed in another. We all had separate showers and washrooms; our rooms were comfortable and clean. Our meals were wonderful. Our location was so convenient. Our hosts were most hospitable and helpful.

Jose and Maritza are very helpful people. They make you feel part of the family. They advised me about the do's and don'ts in Havana. Apart from the room, the breakfast and dinner was great. I can highly recommend this casa to anyone who want to stay close to the Cuban people and get to know the culture of this beautiful island.
