Casa M'Aloja
My review: Our base in La Habana during a three week trip to Cuba with my parents in 2011. The incredibly helpful Ranses met me at the airport with a car and driver and waited with me for three hours for my parents to arrive as their flight had been delayed. The house is gorgeous and in great condition inside, that feels very pre-revolutiony. The location is fantastic, about a 5-10 min taxi ride away from the city centre and within walking distance of La Plaza de la Revolución. While in a quieter spot itself this meant that it was mercilessly clear of the tourist touts that plague the Old Town. The showers worked well, food was wonderful, and the whole family very helpful. When we set off from La Habana we were furnished with a list of great casas partculares through the whole island by Ranses. For the rest of the our Cuban trip Casa M'Aloja was our benchmark.
Casa specifics: English speaking, Quiet, Fantastic hosts, Comfortable, Roomy, Charming, Beautiful, Safe, Patio
Amenities: Internet for guests, Parking service, TV, Airconditioning, Private bathroom, Laundry service, Ceiling fan, Breakfast service, Dinner service, Queensize bed, Extra bed available, Bathroom with shower
How was your room?: Spacious, with en-suite bathrooms and wardrobes for clothes
How was the food they offer?: Wonderful, we could choose pork chicken or fish for dinner, and the coffee at breakfast was always fresh. If the food at every casa had been as good as this we would have been very happy.
Other services they offer: Arranged drivers to the airport at stupid hours, and cheaper than taxis, filled with good advice on what to do around La Habana. Furnished with a great list of good casa particulares throughout Cuba.
