Casa Mario
My review: Great little spot. Mario is very accommodating and helpful with locations / directions locally. We stayed in his separate apartment upstairs so had total privacy. Stove top and refrigerator included. We liked the location as its away from all the tourists and you meet many locals just going out for a bite or drink.
Casa specifics: Quiet, Fantastic hosts, Comfortable, Cozy, Safe
Amenities: TV, Private entrance, Airconditioning, Private bathroom, Minibar, Ceiling fan, Bathroom with tub, Bathroom with shower
How was your room?: Room was spotless and partially cleaned each day (more than enough).

Casa (Dalia y) Mario
My review: This private apartment is very elegant and comfortable,
with high ceilings and vintage wood + tile decor.
Mario is an outstanding host, a gracious and helpful guy.
I only spoke Spanish with him and his wife.
Casa specifics: Quiet, Fantastic hosts, Elegant, Comfortable, Hidden gem, Roomy, Romantic, Beautiful, Safe
Amenities: TV, Private entrance, Airconditioning, Private bathroom, Minibar, Ceiling fan, Queensize bed, Bathroom with tub, Bathroom with shower
How was your room?: Very comfortable, well furnished and decorated. Very secure location. A/C, fan, fridge, phone, TV, clock radio all worked great.
How was the food they offer?: Meals are not provided. Hosts did a great job of keeping fridge well stocked
with bottled water, soda, and beer at reasonable prices. In theory one could
cook in the kitchen, but it seemed easier to eat elsewhere, which Mario can recommend.
Other services they offer: I accidentally left a piece of baggage behind, and
Mario was very gracious in retrieving it for me
to pickup. They are very responsive to phone calls
and other inquiries.
Other comments: The location is on the western end of Havana Centro, closer to the University
and Vedado than it is to the Capital and Havana Vieja. I appreciated this
location more and more as I learned the city. However, it is a few
blocks of urban walking to get to the nearest tourist oriented
services. Hotel Nacional seemed to be the most convenient
nearby place to access internet and change money, otherwise just head
for the Capital area. The FEU bar just up San Lazaro is groovy. Don't miss
the free-ish Rhumba show in nearby Callejon de Hamel on Sunday afternoon.

Casa Mario
My review: I can confirm all the other reviews that have positive things to say about Casa Mario. He is a gentleman and is wife is a lady. You will feel secure here and the destination is perfect in Habana city. If you want to take a GOOD walk around Habana then it's very good to do. And when you want to get away from the even busier part, then you'll feel nice knowing that you're going back to that casa.
I shall be definately staying with them again when I return to Habana.
Muchas Gracias Casa Mario
Casa specifics: Quiet, Fantastic hosts, Elegant, Comfortable, Cozy, Hidden gem, Roomy, Charming, Beautiful, Safe
Amenities: TV, Private entrance, Airconditioning, Private bathroom, Bathroom with tub, Bathroom with shower
How was your room?: Lovely and spacious! Good storage and the shower is better than mine at home!
How was the food they offer?: They are unable to serve food which is completely understandable. Nonetheless, Mario recommended us to the best Cuban Paladar in Cuba. I don't care if this is the only one I've eaten in... I don't need to eat anywhere else. The food in there was amazing and so is the service! Please ask Mario and he will tell you.
Other comments: Mario knows his Habana so you can ask him to recommend you anywhere and it will be good! Just make sure you have your passports ready and pay good attention to how shut the door!

Casa Mario
Review
When we arrived in the evening, Mario had already sent someone down to the street to wait for us. We came by taxi from Havana airport and he helped us bringing our suitcases up the stairs to the first floor where they lived. The room was ok for the 3 first nights we spent in Havana and the area felt very safe. The house is about 10 minutes walking from the Malecon but around 3 kilometers from the real Havana city center but it's a nice walk along the sea front. From Mario and his wife we actually didn't see much at all. Only at the beginning when we arrived to get the formalities done and to get a key for the house and at the end to check out. So it felt more like a private little hotel.
Casa specifics: Quiet, Safe
Amenities: TV, Airconditioning, Private bathroom, Ceiling fan, Bathroom with tub, Bathroom with shower
How was your room?: The room was sufficient for the 3 days we stayed there. It contained one double bed, 1 bedside table, warderobe, a hat stand, 2 chairs, dressing table with mirror, tv, fridge, ventilator and a/c. As the a/c was very old and noisey we used the ventilator;) The fridge was very noisey during the night as well but we just unplugged it as it was getting cold next morning very quickly again. The bathroom was quite big with a bath tub.
How was the food they offer?: This casa is not offering any breakfast or dinner. But Mario can give you some tips where to go. We found some nice restaurants close to the house where we had dinner.
Other services they offer: They offered some drinks which were in the fridge for you:
big waterbottles for 1,50 CUC, beer cans 1,50 CUC and refreshments for 1 CUC.

Casa Mario
Review
I booked this Casa via internet via CubaJunky. Reservation was reliable and Mario was prepared for our arrival and we (male Canadian and female Cuban) paid the previously agreed price of 30CUC per night for 2 people. The apartment is clean, comfortable and located less than 100 meters from the touristic backlane "Callejón de Hamel". The kitchen is equipped, and we cooked our own food. The stairs are a long, steep climb from the street so this apartment is not suitable for anyone with physical disabilities. The privacy is wonderful for a couple, and cooking your own food will save a lot of money and you will eat better, as there are no good cheap restaurants nearby. A problem was that it was difficult to receive visitors (for supper, for example) without bothering Mario, since there is no communication from the street to the apartment (no doorbell) and most people don't have functioning mobil phones in Cuba. I highly recommend this apartment for any able-bodied couple seeking a private, romantic getaway in an interesting neighbourhood of Centro Habana.
Casa style: Quiet, Comfertable, Cozy, Romantic, Safe
Amenities: Parking service, TV, Private entrance, Airconditioning, Private bathroom, Minibar,
How was your room?: Room is just fine, private shower and toilet also fine.
How was the food the offer?: We cooked our own food
Other services they offer: We did not need any other services
Other comments: I sense that Mario may be more at easy with an older heterosexual person like myself, rather than (for example) a young homosexual couple. This is a loss, because the casa is near "BimBom", but I will not post this information on Trip Advisor or poor Mario may be beseiged by maricones.
