Casa Rafael Navarro y Adis

My review: The casa particular of Rafael and Adis is fantastic. They guaranteed our reservation through CubaJunky (through pototo), which is not always the case here in Cuba. They were waiting for us at the Viazul busstation to take us to the casa and it is simply perfect. The room is big, has lots of windows, airconditioning and is very clean. The private bathroom seems new and hot and cold water is available during the entire day. The casa also has an amazing roof terrace that overlooks most of Baracoa and you can even see the ocean. An ideal place for Cuba Libres and relaxing.
The owners of the casa (and their son and his family) are among the nicest people we met in Cuba. They also speak English, which helps a lot if your Spanish is not so perfect.
And last but certainly not least, the food here is amazing!
If you are looking for a nice place to stay in Baracoa, look no further!

Casa specifics: Fantastic hosts, Comfortable, Roomy, Romantic, Charming, Safe

Casa Raphael y Adis Navarro Gallardo

My review: The comfort and hospitality of this wonderful casa I cannot praise too highly. Brimming with warmth and friendliness I felt instantly at home. Raphael, Adis and family are brilliant hosts leaving you feeling you can relax, unwind and emmerse yourself in the fascinating Cuban culture effortlessly. The accomodation is a clean and comfortable double bedroom (with capacity for 3 people, there is a single and a double bed) with airconditioning, fan and en-suite bathroom. You will most certainly fall in love with traditional Cuban food here, it is traditional, healthy and above all extremely tastey. The ocean and town view from the rooftop terrace is atmospheric and breathtaking. I took my daily Spanish lessons (arranged by Raphael) here. Nothing is too much trouble. Adis and Raphae! l are always on hand to assist with queries and information. Casa Raphael y Adis is located right in the centre of this vibrant yet laid back and peaceful town. You are a few steps away from essential amenities, nightlife and the malecon. The beach is a short stroll along the malecon which leads onto the most amazing tropical countryside and conservation area. This casa is tremendously good value financially speaking. You will become and honourary Cuban during your stay and that is the most priceless thing of all.

Other services they offer: Adis and Raphael can assist with most bespoke requests. For example they arranged bike hire and Spanishh lessons for me at minimal cost.
Other comments: I cannnot recommend this casa highly enought. It is all I wanted and more.

Casa Rafael y Adis

My review: The room was a good size. Clean and bright. It had aircon and 2 easy chairs in addition to a single and double bed. On the patio just outside our door were 2 rocking chairs and stairs to a rooftop terrace, where we ate our evening meals.
The food was lovely and very generous. The first meal we had was the evening we arrived. The shrimp was lovely. The Breakfasts were Fresh, large and tasty. You couldn't ask for more. Our evening meals were all 3 courses, at various times we had arranged earlier in the day with our hosts. Again these were fresh, large and tasty. Good food at a good price with a very pleasant service.
Maria did some laundry for us. Rafeal showed us a video clip of the National Park. We could ask the family anything and they would help us and gave us information and where to go and what to see in the local area. Edward jumped in the hire car with us when it was time to give it back to made sure we found the rental office.
The family and Maria made you feel very welcome guests and showed an interested in what we were doing. I felt that our possession were always very very safe in their Casa. You knew that they were always there to help but you never felt as if they were looking over you. Very very pleasant stay indeed. I could Highly recommend staying here.

Raphael Navarro Y Adis

My review: After having chosen the casa at random last year, I had set my mind to come back again and to enjoy their hospitality for a longer stay. And again I had a wonderful time, airy and clean room, great private terrace with wonderful seaview where great diners were being served! And on my birthday they surprised me with their spontaneaous wishes/feliz compleanos drawing! Never thought anyone would think about it, but they did! The whole family pitches in and they help you out where-ever they can. They arranged a cuban manicure for me and a massage when I needed one after the Humboldt Park experience/walk!! Thank you Raphael Y Adis! Baracoa and your casa will stay on my favorite visits!

Casa specifics: Fantastic hosts, Comfortable
Amenities: Airconditioning, Private bathroom
How was your room?: clean and comfortable
How was the food they offer?: very tastefull, upon demand and with great care prepared
Other services they offer: they aim to please and succeed

Rafael y Adis

My review: In the two weeks my wife stayed here, we were treated as revered members of the family. Our Spanish was awful, Adis and Rafael organized a private tutor. We wanted to learn how to dance salsa, Adis got us enrolled in a dance course just down the street. We explained our preference about seafood, and it was there in plenty and with remarkable flavour. Their service and knowledge helped us immeasureably and we became very fond of the town of Baracoa as a result.

This is a family-run casa, including son and daughter-in-law, daughter, grand daughter. The meals were always served with panache and the room was cleaned daily. Hot water, air conditioning, things that some casas considered frills were all there without asking.

Casa specifics: Quiet, Fantastic hosts, Comfortable, Cozy, Hidden gem, Roomy, Romantic, Charming, Patio
Amenities: Private entrance, Private bathroom, Laundry service, Balcony, Breakfast service, Dinner service, Queensize bed, Extra bed available, Bathroom with shower
How was your room?: The shuttered windows were very helpful in controlling the heat in the upstairs room. The fittings were more than adequate for writing and reading, sleeping and personal care. Downstairs, library and entertainment in the family room was always available.
How was the food they offer?: Food was always absolutely fresh. We saw the chicken killed that that night was supper. Menu was varied and included local dishes and tres elegante meals also.
Other services they offer: Arranged for salsa dancing, Spanish tutoring, negotiated deals on art and tourist purchases, arranged transportation
Other comments: In spite of the language differences, we felt welcomed by the family. Their efforts smoothed the way for this gringo couple from Vancouver, Canada.

Casa Rafael y Adis, Baracoa

My review: This is the best casa I've been in: it's beautiful, very clean, comfortable, and the hosts are very friendly. Thanks to them I had a very pleasant stay in Baracoa, which is a really nice place to go to nice beaches and to hike in the mountain.

Casa specifics: Quiet, Fantastic hosts, Comfortable, Roomy, Charming, Beautiful, Safe, Children in the house, Patio
Amenities: TV, Airconditioning, Private bathroom, Balcony, Breakfast service, Dinner service, Bathroom with shower
How was your room?: The room was big, perfectly clean, and comfortable. It offered a wonderful view on the sea, and on the mountains too.
How was the food they offer?: The food in general was good the coconut fish in particular wa excellent.
The breakfasts were huge and particularly good.
Other services they offer: They send someone to pick us at the bus station for a price wich was good.
They gave us good advice about the places to visit.
Other comments: I recommend this casa not only because of the casa itself but because of the people who own it: they know how to care of tourists and they do it very well.

RAFAEL NAVARRO GALLARDO

My review: Rafael y Adis...what wonderful hosts! Rafael and Adis' son met us at the airport to bring us to their house and their daughter spoke very good English which was very helpful. Their house is located in the centre of Baracoa. The room is very clean, with air conditioning and has a terrace overhead with a great view of the surrounding countryside, sea and town. Breakfast was plentiful and the hot chocolate was so tasty! The highlight of our stay was Adis' amazing local coconut dish and chocolate ice-cream!... Our favourite Casa in Cuba!

Casa specifics: Quiet, Fantastic hosts, Comfortable, Cozy, Patio
Amenities: TV, Airconditioning, Private bathroom, Laundry service, Balcony, Breakfast service, Kingsize bed, Extra bed available, Bathroom with shower
How was your room?: The room is a double, with one bed larger than the other. It's on the top of the building, so it's windy in the night. At the third level you have a terrace
How was the food they offer?: The food was excellent
Other services they offer: Maria who does much of the food in the casa is wonderful. when feeling a bit dodgy she prepared some camomile tea which was really welcome, Rafael provided a couple of tablets which was really kind considering the availability of medicine in Cuba. Had some great insights into Cuba and would recommend these hosts without any hesitation at all.
Other comments: We would recommend this casa to everyone!

Casa Rafael y Adis

This Casa is fabulous!

Rafael contacted us by email a few days after we made our booking, which was very professional and put us at ease. They also honoured our reservation even though others were keen to stay on for a few more days.

After a 5 hour bus ride from Santiago, it was fantastic to have Rafael's son waiting for us at the bus station (it can be a bit intense at the bus station when the Viazul arrives). It's true: the room is amazing and clean and quiet, and the meals are also delicious (and almost too much in quantity).

Our bici-taxi cyclist was also very friendly and sweet... we're not sure if he is the Casa's own bici-taxi, but he was waiting for us when we departed 3 days' later.

Casa specifics: Quiet, Fantastic hosts, Comfortable, Cozy, Hidden gem, Roomy, Romantic, Charming, Beautiful, Safe, Garden, Children in the house, Patio
Amenities: Airconditioning, Private bathroom, Balcony, Ceiling fan, Breakfast service, Dinner service, Queensize bed, Extra bed available, Bathroom with shower

Casa Rafael y Adis

I (solo traveller, woman, middle age) stayed at this casa particular in april 2005 with my son (age 7 at that time) for 6 days alltogheter. Casa particular is in the city center - about 100m away from church. If arriving by bus, take alone the transportation to their place, because in comparison to the rest - they are not allowed to await you at the bus station, because of the status (inspector). They are only allowed to accept guests who knock on their door (maybe it changed since then). The whole family was very friendly and with great knowledge of many things. They speak English fluently, but we spoke in Spanish. The food was one of the best one in Cuba. Sleeping facility is on the roof with no neighbours watching and very airy and with great view over Baracoa. Bathroom was also o! ne of the best. They washed my clothes. They helped me to apply to trip to Humboldt national park. They borrowed me a bike to go with son to a daytrip to nearby river Duaba. They gave me a spanish book of Cuban War as a present. The also arranged a casa particular in Santiago de Cuba - right accross the Bacardi museum - city center!

Baracoa was our second staying in Cuba after Jaguey Grande. After that we backpacked over the rest of Cuba - Santiago de Cuba, Trinidad, Rancho Luna, Vinales, Habana, Varadero. After Baracoa I've seen a lot of other casas particulares, so I say, this one is one of the best in Cuba!

I'm missing the family and hope to return once again to meet them and stay at their casa particular.

Casa specifics: Quiet, Fantastic hosts, Comfortable, Cozy, Roomy, Romantic, Beautiful, Safe
Amenities: TV, Airconditioning, Private bathroom, Laundry service, Ceiling fan, Breakfast service, Dinner service, Kingsize bed, Queensize bed, Bathroom with shower

Casa Rafael

Casa Rafael is the #1 casa particular in Baracoa according to Cuba Junky and may become the top casa in Cuba . Its success is partly due to the spacious guest room and bathroom above the main living quarters, leading to a roof-top terrace with a view of the surrounding rooftops and ocean. The room is located in a house that is kept scrupulously clean. (Sheets and towels are changed daily unless you direct otherwise.) The location is close to the central square, Casa de la Trova, shops and the seawall known as the Malecon. Meals prepared by Adis and Gisele are tastyespecially the black bean soup and fish in coconut sauceand demitasses of coffee are available during the day. The family is attentive to guest needs yet also respects maximum privacy. W! e were invited to the 50th birthday party and luncheon held for Chichitos wife, Adis, which gave us access to a festive occasion attended by family and friends. Adis also encouraged us to enjoy salsa lessons at the nearby cultural centre.

Proprietors: Rafael (Chichito) Navarro Gallardo, wife Adis, son Edward, daughter-in-law Gisele
Casa specifics: Quiet, Comfortable, Hidden gem, Safe, Children in the house, Patio
Amenities: TV, Airconditioning, Private bathroom, Balcony, Breakfast service, Dinner service, Bathroom with shower
