Casa Vista Al Mar, La Boca, Cuba

Photo Gallery Casa Vista Al Mar

Casa Vista Al Mar is a fantastic colorful house at a A1 location, right at the beach of Playa La Boca. The casa particular is a more or less independent house with two bedrooms with fans, has a veranda all around the house where you enjoy the view on the beach and the Escambray mountains from your rocking chair or hammock. You can park your rental car in front of your house at the private parking.
The owners live in a house behind the casa particular in the same garden. The house is perfect for families with children who want to have their own safe place. Perfect for people who love to relax and mingle with locals in this lovely little village.

Casa Vista Al Mar

My review: My son, his girlfriend Lizzy and myself stayed in this casa for 4 days, It was wonderfully clean and comfortable. Manolo and Sylvia were great hosts and were very helpful in finding accomodation for us for one more night. It was a short walk to the quiet beach of La Boca, and the verandah was wonderful to relax on and watch the fishing village life go by. We had two seperate rooms with two seperate bathrooms which were extremely well maintained and clean. Manolo was very kind to us and made sure we were comfortable. He struggled with his English and I struggled with the Spanish but we managed to figure things out. Staying in this casa just across from the ocean was a special place for us on this trip.

Casa specifics: Quiet, Fantastic hosts, Comfortable, Cozy, Roomy, Charming, Safe, Pets in the house, Patio
Amenities: Parking service, Airconditioning, Private bathroom, Garden, Ceiling fan, Breakfast service, Dinner service, Kingsize bed, Bathroom with shower

How was your room?: Our rooms were wonderful and bed was very comfortable. The use of the wrap around verandah was a highlight of this casa.
How was the food they offer?: The food was plentiful and very fresh. Fish freshly caught that day. You have to love that.
Other services they offer: Manolo was very helpful in finding us accomodation for one more night. He was also helpful in letting us know about the small village and the cuban life.
Other comments: Next time I will stay for even longer, as this small fishing village is just the right kind of place to visit to get to knnw the cubans. It is quiet and people are incredibly friendly.

Hostal Vista al Mar

My review: We staid there for three days only. Everything was great: nice beach with many Cuban people spending their vacations, lifestyle that's typical for such small seaside villages accompanied by great hosts in this casa. It's very close to the beach, one can see it from the terrace which is very big and nice. Our room was a bit small and very bright, but another one was very comfortable with sea view. Manolo is a great cook! He knows what to do with sea food which is always fresh in la Boca. His shrimps with souse salsa are amazing! He is also a nice storyteller, but unfortunately, his English was not very good, and we spoke no Spanish. As for safety, I think, now it's maximally safe, as they close the whole house after all guests are at home.
I have to say, in la Boca it was much funnier than in the silent and always sleepy Ancon Beach!

Casa specifics: Quiet, Fantastic hosts, Comfortable, Romantic, Beautiful, Safe, Garden
Amenities: Private entrance, Airconditioning, Private bathroom, Garden, Breakfast service, Dinner service, Bathroom with shower
How was the food they offer?: Fantastic

Casa Vista al Mar

My review: My favourite place... La Boca, porque esta muy tranquilo!
Manolo y Sylvia are the perfect hosts. If you want to improve your Spanish, then they definately help you with that.
I shall be returning some day and staying with them. Getting up early in the morning, watching the sun rise on the Alturas and seeing the fishermen come back with their catch is just so nice to see. It's also perfect when you go on the beach (just a hop, skip and a jump away!) and go into the water. Why? Because it's so warm and there's no one there and it feels like you're VIP!

Muchas Gracias Manolo y Sylvia (see you soon)
Besos y abrazos xxx

Casa specifics: Quiet, Fantastic hosts, Comfortable, Cozy, Hidden gem, Romantic, Charming, Beautiful, Safe, Children in the house, Patio
Amenities: Airconditioning, Private bathroom, Balcony, Breakfast service, Dinner service, Private parking
How was your room?: Muy bien, me gusta mucho. No mosquitos
How was the food they offer?: So tasty! I'm sorry thar we missed the red snapper, but I'm sure we'll get the chance to again. The portions are served as if you're King and Queen!!!

Hostal Vista Al Mar

Review

If you want to get away from the tourists and hustle of Trinidad de Cuba and you want a place where Cubans like to go for holidays and weekends then La Boca is the place for you.
This casa is comprised of two buildings. 1. The guest house with a verandah where you can watch the world go by as you look over the bay. In the evening you can watch the small fishing boats go out and watch their lights winking in the distance. 2. The host house at back.
What makes this casa so special are the hosts Manolo and Sylvia. They make you feel like family. When Sylvia discovered that I was celebrating a birthday during our visit she stealthily went to Trinidad to purchase a cake which she and Manolo and their daughter,Maria Theresa, presented to us as we were sitting on the verandah.
We spent 6 days there and were sad to leave.

Casa specifics: Quiet, Fantastic hosts, Comfortable, Cozy, Hidden gem, Charming, Safe
Amenities: Private entrance, Private bathroom, Ceiling fan, Breakfast service, Dinner service, Queensize bed, Extra bed available, Bathroom with shower, Private parking
How was your room?: Our room was basic but very clean. The bed was firm,by North American standards, but, with the help of extra blankets under us,proved quite comfortable. On the property next door there was a rooster who couldn't tell the time.He called his friend at the other end of the village every hour from 2:00 am onwards. After a somewhat sleepless first night we learned to shutter him out and use the white noise of the overhead fan to lull us to sleep.
The bathroom was small but spotlessly clean and hot water was available in the sink and the shower.
How was the food they offer?: The food,in general, was basic but very well prepared and presented.
Manolo is the chef and is very good.In fact, there was one dish that he barbecued for us that was particularly outstanding. With a big grin on his face ,he showed us the fresh catch of the day.He called it pargo and it looked like a form of red snapper. When it arrived at our table it was truly something to behold - the different gleaming hues of red and pink and purple and orange. It's probably the best fish we have ever tasted.
Other services they offer: If you want to go to Playa Ancon or go back to Trinidad, and you don't have your own transportation,Manolo and Sylvia will provide you with all the necessary information with regard to the local "train" or bus or taxi or rental bicycle.
Other comments: If you want to experience real small town Cuba then go to La Boca and stay at Casa Vista al Mar.

Casa Vista Al Mar La Boca

Review

Best location in La Boca with a lovely view of the bay. Wraparound verandah with a hammock. Sylvia and Manolo were amazing hosts. Sylvia especially went out of her way to play with our 6 year old daughter including taking her to the beach, the park and to visit other friends in the community.

Casa specifics: Fantastic hosts, Comfortable, Cozy
Amenities: Private entrance, Airconditioning, Private bathroom, Ceiling fan, Breakfast service, Dinner service, Extra bed available, Bathroom with shower
How was the food they offer?: Excellent food. We ate all our meals there.
Other comments: I highly recommend this casa. La Boca is an excellent alternative to Trinidad and a much less expensive choice than a resort on Playa Ancon.

Casa Vista al Mar

Review

Last November we decided to stay 3 nights in quiet La Boca instead of staying in busy Trinidad.
We came here with our rented car which we could park in front of the house behind the fence.
Because of the good comments of this casa (safe..) we stayed in the house of Manolo and Silvia.
Unfortunately we were victims of a robbery. While sleeping in our room our suite-case was stolen and found back on the terrace next morning. Money and some items were missing. Nobody had seen or heard anything.. The thief must be somebody who knows the situation very well. Entering a house with a big dog and closed doors. There is something wrong with the safety of this house. Its a real pity to inform you about this event. It was the only negative experience during our stay (5 weeks) in Cuba.

Hospedaje Vista el Mar

Review

Hospedaje Vista al Mar Sylvia and Manolo Menendez made us feel so welcome that we ended up staying an extra day with them...No restaurants in La Boca, we ate ALL our meals with them...Delicious, simple meals, served on their verandah, overlooking the little bay...I fell asleep at night to the sound of the waves, awoke to enjoy another day in this delightful place. Sylvia is very generous with her time, let us do laundry on their back patio, brought things in when the rain came up suddenly...We enjoyed learning from them about the village, and their connection to the region. Despite the language barrier (though especially Manolo speaks/understands most in English) I came away feeling as if I had got to know them , to have some sense how their life there is lived...and enjoyed! It was the perfect interval between Havana and Trinidad. My hope is that I might return there one day...and speaking Spanish with them this time! Can we award them SIX stars please?

Casa Vista al Mar

Review

I have to start by thanking our man in Havana-mr. Pototo-for finding this marveless place for us.
Originally we had booked 5 days, but stayed 8 days, maybe it says more than any words, but I have to thank the hosts Sylvia and Manolo for taking care of us in all situations they made us feel like family and we will always remember them.
The casa is located with a view over a little Bay at the mouth (la boca)of the trinidad river, so every day before breakfast we were served exelent coffee watching the slow life of the local fishermen and the farmer delivering fresh milk over the fench.
We were served ecxelent dinners at the terrasse after we had been for a sunset-mojito s if you want to relax, enjoy the local beach and visit the lovely Trinidad I recommend this place

Casa style: Quiet, Fantastic hosts, Comfertable, Cozy, Hidden gem, Romantic, Charming, No frills, Safe
Amenities: Private bathroom, Laundry service, Balcony, Ceiling fan
How was your room?: Nice private rooms, always clean
How was the food the offer?: Ecxelent food, better than any hotel or restaurent we tried in Havana
Other services they offer: Loving care, getting transportation ,laundry
Other comments: Thank you

Casa Vista Al Mar

Review

We stayed at this casa for 5 days an had a wonderful time. The owners we great and treated us really well. The food was great much better than any of the hotels in Havana. It has a great beach close by where you can go to soak up some sun. I really can't say enought good things about this casa, good food, great view, clean and very comfortable and we met some great people for other countries. I would recommend this casa to anyone.

Casa style: Quiet, Fantastic hosts, Comfertable, Cozy, No frills, Beautiful, Safe
Amenities: Parking service, Private bathroom, Laundry service, Balcony, Ceiling fan
How was your room?: Our room had a ocean view,it was very clean,in fact it was super clean,so was the bathroom.
How was the food the offer?: The food was excellent, Manolo and Sylvia are great cooks. There was plenty of food more that you could eat, the vegetables and fruit were fresh. The coffee was excellent.
Other services they offer: You had breakfast and dinner provided outside on the beautiful terrace.Sylvia even did laundry for us which was great. They have a great terrace where you can lie in one of their hammocks and enjoy the view.
Other comments: We had a fantastic time here, Manolo and Sylvia are great hosts. They are genuine down to earth people, when we left we felt like we had made some new friends. We felt completely at ease here and did not feel like we were invading their space because they had thier own little house behind the casa.

Casa Vista Al Mar

Review

A lovely casa right on the seafront at La Boca.  La Boca is a very laid back village with a sandy small cove beach as well as the 'main drag' which is a bit rocky but has a great little bar which does Mojitos as the sun sets.  Vista Al Mar is very comfortable and Sylvia and Manolo are fantastic hosts.  Couldn't be nicer.  Looked after us brilliantly and cooked delicious food.  One night we had a huge fish.  We visited with our children (17 and 14).  There are 3 rooms (2 double, 1 twin) and 2 bathrooms in the casa but they are only allowed to let two out at a time.  Sylvia and Manolo live in a house in the back garden so guests have use of the house.  A lovely veranda all round.  Trinidad is 8 km away, 5 CUC in a taxi.

Casa style: Quiet, Fantastic hosts, Comfertable, Hidden gem, Safe
Amenities: Parking service, Private entrance, Private bathroom, Laundry service, Balcony,
How was your room?: Very comfortable, clean.  Great modern bathrooms.
How was the food the offer?: Fresh, plentiful and delicious
Other services they offer: Called endless taxi't for us, did our laundry, supplied soft drinks and beers.
Other comments: Highly recommended.
