Casa A Bienvenido En El HolandesMy review: This is a great Casa -- it has beautiful rooms, a great central courtyard, wonderful breakfasts and dinners, and is in a great location relative to the central plazas of Trinidad. For us, though, what made this place spectacular is the huge, wonderful family of mostly women who fill the house. I think some speak pretty good English, though we spoke to them in Spanish. Being with them and participating a bit in their daily routine is, for us, what makes Cuba the special place it is. I miss them all very much. Dec 20 2015

Casa El HolandesMy review: I stayed at Casa Holandes for one night with two of my other friends. The room was very spacious. The women who maintained the casa were extremely friendly. Although we only had one night here, they made our stay very accommodating. The one woman was kind enough to arrange a taxi for us back to the capital. If I had the chance to go back to Trinidad, I would definitely come back here. Nov 23 2015
Casa El HolandesMy review: I stayed for 5 nights at the casa, and had a great time. The women of the casa where very hospitable. And had a wonderfull day with horse riding through the valley with their cousin Yuder, who knows a lot of the history of Trinidad and surroundings. Oct 3 2015
El HolandésMy review: We had a wonderful time at casa El holandés. The owners are super nice and they take really good care of you. Although I speak spanish fluently it is nice to stay at a casa where they speak inglés/ dutch so my boyfriend can also enjoy a friendly conversation with someone other then me of me translating ;). The breakfast is nice and u get a lot of food, same goes for dinner. They also give you tips about excursions or how to get to other cities and they help you book the next casa. The rooms are nice aswel. You have airconditioning and hot water for showering etc. We would definitely stay here again and recommend this casa to you. Sept 20 2015

Casa El HolandesMy review: We stayed at Casa El Holandes for 3 nights in August 2015, and the whole experience was great! Herman and Yolanda made us feel very welcome, and Herman's fluent English made planning our stay extremely easy and relaxing. They have a wide range of excursions on offer, and we decided to go on a horse riding trip to the Valle de los Ingenios with their guide Yudel. The excursion was very good, and we were able to see a lot of rural Cuba, which was beautiful. The room was clean and comfortable, but the highlight of the casa was the food. Breakfast was good, and both the dinners we had there were plentiful and delicious. Thank you for a wonderful stay, and we would definitely recommend this casa to others staying in Trinidad! Casa Bienvenido en El HolandesMy review: Nice room with fan and airco. Very nice staff! Diner and breakfast were good. We traveled with a babygirl (1,5year) and everybody was so friendly to her. It was nice to talk dutch to the owner, who could tell us more about Cuba, but I think people from all nationalities would like to stay here. Location was good, everything was closeby and the owner arranged a place to park our car savely.
CASA A BIENVENIDO EN EL HOLANDESMy review: My brother, sister, girlfriend, and I had the pleasure of staying with Herman and Yolanda during our Cuba trip. We greatly enjoyed our stay. Herman provided great advice (in English, which helped!) on top places to visit in Trinidad, and also took us on an adventurous excursion to the Valle de Ingenios. Herman and Yolanda are warm, friendly people who will help you get the most out of your time in Trinidad. I highly recommend staying with them if your travels take you to Trinidad.

Unfortunately Herman and his wife were not there during our stay, but Caridad, Bertha, and everyone else made sure that we were well taken care of. The casa itself has a fantastic rooftop view of Trinidad. They were able to arrange taxis for us, direct us to the only working internet in town, and were accommodating with our check out time. How was the food they offer?: Very good Other services they offer: Tours March 2 2015 Casa A Bienvenido en El HolandesMy review: We stayed with Herman & Yolanda for three nights. We had a great stay and would thoroughly recommend their Casa. Our holiday has been the first time for both of us to Cuba and we weren't sure how to get from/return to Havana. Herman kindly arranged a taxi for us, which made things very easy. They couldn't have been more helpful. For example, before we were awake on our date of departure Herman rang our taxi driver to check he had left Havana when he should have. He hadn't and to avoid us waiting for a few hours Herman took the trouble of arranging another taxi without us doing anything. For reference, the taxi takes about four hours (+a 15-min break) & costs 120 CUC. Herman, Yolanda were welcoming, helpful and friendly to us. We had breakfast each morning that is worth having. Their building has a nice rooftop terrace to enjoy the sunshine. Trinidad is relaxed and we enjoyed exploring and particularly the sunsets (from the beach/ a rooftop bar/ the main tower). One morning we did a three hour tour with Herman in his 1953 Chevy of a sugar plantation and a few other bits. Learning about this and the local architecture was worthwhile - Herman has a keen interest in the local history. All in all, a great stay. How was your room?: Clean and fine. Casa el HolandesMy review: We spent an amazing time in Trinidad and definitely la Casa El Holandes made the experience memorable! We planned to stay 2 nights and ended up staying 4 as we could not get enough of the great atmosphere. Trinidad has so much to offer: great old town, amazing nature, nearby beach and great nightlife! The Casa has an amazing family atmosphere and become a real Cuban by the time you leave it! Not to forget, the food is delicious - no need to look for a restaurant when you can dine like a king in the casa. Gracias a Herman, Yolanda y toda la familia porque de verdad lo pasamos super bien! Casa El HolandesMy review: Casa proprietors Herman and Yolanda get the full five stars for hospitality and service. Herman is Dutch and is fluent in Spanish and English (at least), which helps in a largely unilingual country - he knows the ins and outs and is candid about Cuban society. Yolanda's extended family helps around the casa, which adds to the colour, and meals are excellent. Herman gives an excellent day tour, in his old car, of the countryside and old sugarcane plantations with their manor houses and contrasting crumbling former slave quarters. He also has a small farm, a work in progress but in a beautiful setting with a new house and a nice resident family, that my family of four rode to on horseback, with a stop at a swimming hole en route, and stayed at for a night. Not entirely sure whether the farm is available for everyone, but Herman will let you know, and we found it comfortable and fun. How was your room?: Room was good. How was the food they offer?: Food was excellent. Other services they offer: See review section. Other comments: My photo is of New Years Eve 2014 supper in the casa courtyard.
Casa A Bienvenido en El HolandesMy review: We had a fantastic stay at the Casa over new Years Eve, we partied and danced with them like we were part of the family. Fantastic stay with lovely people. How was your room?: Nice and clean with a little balcony where you could watch Trinidad life go by. How was the food they offer?: Breakfast was lovely and dinner was nice although we only ate at this casa a couple of times. Creme soup was fantastic.
Other services they offer: They helped to book tours and taxis for us.
Jan 5 2015 Casa El HolandesMy review: Best place in Trinidad! Close to the city center. Herman and Yolanda are the greatest. Cook, guide, travel info, history lesson and a good laugh...you name it and they can help. How was your room?: We even spend one night in Herman/Yolandas room because the casa was full. Casa and rooms are very clean and comfortable
How was the food they offer?: Excellent X-mas dinner and breakfast
Other comments: We traveled with a small child. The family around the casa loved to play with her. |
