Casa La Terraza Reviews

I made a reservation at the casa directly

Casa La Terraza

My review: Perfectly located, in the center of Centro Havana, between Capitolo and University of Havana. Much of the sightseeing can be done by foot. Malecon is as well 5 min by walk.
Hosts very hospitable, I have stayed there overall 10 days and after 2, 3 days had an impression that I was in my own home.
How was your room?: I was in two rooms and both were very clean, with all necessary amenities. I have not seen security box bot nevertheless kept passport and most of the money in the casa, felt safer there than in many of the hotels I have been around the world.
How was the food they offer?: Breakfast is standard for Cuba, plate of fresh fruit with juice, than eggs, bread, milk and honey.. For 4 cuc. Good way to start a day, especially since other options for breakfast in Cuba are limited. Dinner is between 7 - 10 cuc depending what do you want, I tried few times and dinner was really good, Nora`s daughter is wonderful cook and I have enjoyed eating there.
Other services they offer: They will pick you at the airport if you want, for 25 cuc. It meant to me a lot, after 13h flight last thing you want is to look around for ways how to get to the city center, especially in Havana where this is far from straightforward.

After first 8 days in Havana, I visited Cayo Largo, Vinales, Varadero and Trinidad. Except Cayo Largo, they organized casas for me in all other places. That saved me a lot of time and basically eliminated logistic problems I would otherwise have.
Other comments: In this casa you will feel as you are in home. Hosts mostly speak Spanish, which is good if you want to practice but they understand English as well.

Cuba is unique country with a lot of things to see, explore and experience. I felt sorry for the people I saw there who came to Cuba, spent money and time and then stayed in hotel or locked themselves in Varadero 10 days. Staying in casa particular gives you insight how ordinary Cubans live, which is integral and I would say essential part of exploring Cuba.

Casa Colonial La Terraza

My review: A wonderful family home with daily cleaning and linen changes for separate apartment, and single rooms with A/C, TV, fridge and full bathroom facilities at very reasonable prices. Excellent full breakfast on the Terraza prepared by Nora’s sister. Other excellent meals by Nora’s daughter. Tomatoes are fantastic! Local organic produce with excellent taste. One only needs 2 meals a day. Reduced costs because located 2 blocks from the hospital, bank, general stores and the boardwalk and the sea. Bus, Bike taxi, regular taxi near the door. (low cost). 15-20 minutes walk to central park, university and many Tourist attractions. Nora, and family in a warm and friendly manner enjoy helping you to know and experience the ins and outs of true Havana life. Nora gives you detailed information of Cuban life, what to be aware of, how to travel to the locations, (Ex. beaches) that you want, whether in Havana or elsewhere, in the most cost effective manner, etc. and even helps to organize and arrange it for you if and when she can. If one contacts Nora directly for booking at www.casalaterraza.com and arrival time, flight#, she can arrange airport arrival, money exchange, pick-up and transportation. Saves you all the airport problems. Beautiful, wonderful and excellent hospitality

Casa La Terraza

I stayed here for a week and was highly pleased about the warm und friendly accomodation. Nora and her family are very nice people who will help you in any way. There house is perfectly situated near the Malecon just between Vedado with its attracting Calle 23 and Centro Habana. I lived in the apartment on the top of the building which has it's own little terrace, where you'll be able to relax perfectly. Furthermore it is independent. So you have your own entrance and complete privacy if you want.
I enjoyed my stay very much and I wouldn't hesitate to book this casa once more.

Casa Colonial La Terraza, Dra Nora Esquivel

Good location in Centro Havanna, about 10-15 min by foot from old town in a safe area, two blocks from the malecon. Very reasonable price! Rooms are sparkling clean, with own bathroom, hot water, aircon, TV, fridge. You can have breakfast or simply relax after a busy day on the beautiful terrace. Excellent meals are available on request, breakfast includes large fruit platter, fresh juice, coffee, bread, butter, jam, eggs, basically more than you could ask for!
When I arrived at night in Casa Colonial la Terraza, I was so pleased to be welcomed by Nora and her family, they are a lovely bunch of people who made me feel at home. Nora's sister and husband live upstairs, so there is always someone around should you need any help. They really take good care of their guests, gave me all sorts of information and called around for me in order to organize salsa classes.

Casa Colonial La Terraza

We visited Cuba for a week in December 2009.
Initially I was a little nervous to book in this location because I had read that the area, La Habana Centro, might be a little rough. However we decided to take the chance because the location was perfect - walking distance to Old Havana, the Malecon, and Vedado.
Well, I'm SO glad we took a chance! We LOVED this Casa and the whole family and especially Nora. She is absolutely the nicest lady and was willing to help in any way she could. When we arrived she gave us a great introductory talk warning us about potential hassles and also telling us nice places to see. She gave us her card with a phone number to call her on at absolutely any time. She was so friendly it really made our stay special.
Our room was great, very clean, nice and private and we had our own wonderful terrace to sit on with a book or a drink.
We ate breakfast every day and it was wonderful . We HIGHLY recommend this Casa!

Casa style: Fantastic hosts, Comfertable, Colonial, Cozy, Hidden gem

Amenities: Airconditioning, Private bathroom, Balcony

How was your room?: Very private, very, very clean, private bathroom and terrace, very nice!  We loved our room.

How was the food the offer?: We only tried breakfast but it was delicious and we had it every day that we stayed.

Other services they offer: Nora is willing to help out with any advice for things to do and see in Havana and other places around Cuba.  She was a wonderful source of information and helped us out in any way that she could.

Other comments: It was really the family that made this place....and the location and the room.  We really enjoyed our experience because of Nora and her whole extended family.

Casa La Terraza

At the beginning and ending from our roundtrip through Cuba we stayed at Nora's place.
We can say this is a casa with the most friendly people we met in Cuba! The rooms are big and clean and nothing is too much for the owners!
It is a nice place in Centro Habana (Habana Vieja is a good walk only 20 minutes from the casa) to spend some time.

Casa style: Fantastic hosts, Colonial, Safe
Amenities: In room safety box, Private bathroom, Balcony,
How was your room?: big and clean, some with television, airco and fan
How was the food the offer?: delicious

Casa La Terraza, Nora y Mesa

We can think of no better place to stay in Havana than with Nora in her beautiful Casa Colonial.
We felt almost part of the family from the moment we arrived and had a great time talking with Nora and her family.
She gave us great information about Havana and helped us find another Casa in Trinidad for which we will write a separate recommendation.
The room had its own bathroom and living room with refrigerator and AC, and there is a cosy terrace were you can have your meals if you want - which we recommend.
The breakfast and dinner used only the best ingredients like lots of fresh fruits and Cubas excellent seafood
The casa is right in the middle of Havana Centro, with Malecon and Havana Vieja within walking distance.
All in all, we would give this casa 5 out of 5 stars and recommend it to anyone.
PS: Just an advice - owners of Casa Particulares pay many taxes every month, regardless of whether they have guests or not. Therefore, remember to treat the Casa owners with courtesy - for instance by remembering to cancel your booking in case you can't make it, and by not trying to haggle over the prices. It is great value for money anyway.

Casa La Terraza

I've recently been to Cuba (2 weeks. First time) and would like to describe my extraordinary pleasant experience:
First positive thing was to rent a casa particular. Cuban people impressed me a lot, they are warm, helpful and despite the insufficient English knowledge of some people, you don’t feel any lack of communication.

I loved the family I rented the apartment from. Nora, the owner, speaks English very well and gave me hints about Havana places and history.
I spent 2 days in Varadero beach and 2 in Trinidad and they help me to fix the accommodation in both places.

I strongly recommend this house
