Casa Alberto y Melba
Review
Stayed here for four nights. Melba and Alberto makes you feel right at home from the moment you walk in. The hosts are very warm, friendly and helpful!
They treat you as one in the family right from the start!
The Casa has two rooms for rent, we stayed in the bigger one with balcony(very nice view over Centro Habana) and private bathroom. The rooms are located on the second floor of the apartment so its a bit secluded from the rest of the apartment. When the weather was nice we where served dinner and breakfast on the terras. Melba is a very good cook!
The hosts speak english aswell wich doesnt seem to be that usual in the Casas.
Melba and Alberto can help you with finding Casas in other cities and other practical information you might want.
We stayed in four other Casas during our holiday in Cuba and this was by far the best one! We can very much recommend this Casa!

How was your room?: Room was nice. Large, clean with a comfortable bed(the only comfortable bed in Cuba it seemed like :)). Air condition, cealing fan, closet and refrigerator. Very nice balcony with a view over Centro Habana and the Atlantic.
How was the food they offer?: Food was great. Just hope your hungry cause your gonna get alot of it!
Other services they offer: Melba and Alberto can help you with all kinds of practical information. If you are going to another city, they can call a friendly Casa there and have them meet you at the bus station.

I was in Cuba for the first time, and being by myself the first part of the trip, I was kind of worried about what to expect but Melba and Alberto they really made me feel as i was home.There are amazing people with a lot of human value. I feel so fortunate to have meet them. They took care to arrange all my connections for the other cities I was going to visit.I hope I can go back soon and definitely their house will be the first to consider. Thank you so much Alberto and Melba!

Casa Alberto Y Melba
Review
We were a little befuddled as our taxi dropped us off in front of a locked gated door on 115 Galiano St. We stood there not sure what to do when a young women came to the door. We asked her if she knew Alberto and Melba she said yes and offered to take us up. We gratefully accepted and gave her a paso for her assistance. Without her I don't think we would have been able to operate the elevator. It is much different than we are use to and we found it more comfortable to walk up and down the 8 flights of stairs than use the elevator if we were on our own. We arrived at the 8th floor and after ringing the bell several times. Alberto appeared. Alberto and Melba were lovely hosts. They greeted us with the best cup of coffee in all of Havana and gave us a map and made suggestions o! n things to do in the area. We only stayed for two days and would have liked to get to know them better. We didn't spend too much time in the house as we were exploring Havana and when we were in the house they kept mostly to themselves. In spite of that it was easy to become fond of them and it was nice to meet their children as well. I found them to be very caring and helpful and would recommend this Casa.

How was your room?: It had everything we needed. It was clean and had a lovely balcony overlooking the city. I got some beautiful panoramic photos. The bed was a little uncomfortable.
How was the food they offer?: We had one meal there. A lovely fish dinner with rice. They make the best coffee ever!!!!

Review
Melba is a real sweet woman that always greets you with a warm smile. Food in this Casa is real recommended, breakfast, that always has an abundance of fresh fruit juices, and dinners that are generous and of course a lot more safer than eating outside in the state-run restaurants. Recommended place.

Having just returned from Havana I can highly recommend Casa Alberto y Melba. They are really lovely, lively and trusting people. They were also incredibly helpful to me when I was trying to sort out problems with my flight back London as well as full of information about the buses and other services. I suggest you get them to cook for you which is much nicer than eating out. The whole experience was pleasurable and you will find no better Casa in Havana.

We experienced wonderful hospitality when at Alberto & Melba\'s casa. They helped us get other accommodations in Havana, and also to make arrangements to go to Vinales and get a casa there, too. All their advice made our trip so much easier!!
And their wonderful casa is such a great place to stay, especially the room with the balcony and the great views of the city. They are gracious hosts, and made us feel very comfortable.

How was your room?: We stayed in both rooms at different times. Both were good and had a private bathroom. The room with the balcony was quite lovely, with an excellent view of the city.

This was my first Casa i stayed at for 3 nights. After a long tiring journey and late arrival I immediately felt at east with Alberto and Melba. Lovely hosts, Melba speaks english and both very helpful. Fabulous Panaromic views from the bright clean living room. Melba is a very good cook and has good strong coffee.
They are both very accommodating people and I would stay here again on my return to Habana.
The location is very central, Vedado to left, Vieja behind and the Malecon and the sea in front. A great location for first nights as it gives a good general idea of the city grid. No need for taxi's everywhere walkable

How was your room?: My room was spaciouis a double comfortable bed and good storage. Mirrored dressing table and private bathroom. Air conditioning and ceiling fan.
The best part was the wall to floor wood doors that opened to the private balcony with panoramic views across the city, Vedado to left, Vieja behind and the Malecon and sea in front. A great location for first nights as gives a good general idea of the city grid. No need for taxi's everywhere walkable
How was the food the offer?: The food was very good. Melba cooked a great breakfast good tortiala or eggs how you request. Good bread , fruits and juices/smoothies. A filtered water dispenser and good strong coffee. Melba cooked Lobster one evening and it was probably the best meal I had in Havana
Other services they offer: Melba was making many calls for another traveller to help book her transport. Laundry service.
Alberto was entertaining a sweet toddler Christian while his lovely parents were having breakfast in peace so child friendly.
They have many maps and information for travellers.
Other comments: I really felt at ease and enjoyed staying here. I wanted to re book on my return to Habana after travelling around Cuba but they were fully booked. However they made sure I had somewhere close and recommended there friends around the corner who turned out to be wonderful people. Marta there friend spoke brilliant english and at this time of my trip this was important. Sorry I missed you Melba I called round and you werent in and thanks for your hospitality and good reccomendation to find me somewhere else. XX

I can strongly recomend this casa! I stayd there for 3 days in January 2010. The appartment has a high standard and is kept clean at all times. They are very friendly and offer great service! The food is very good (breakfast 5CUC, dinner 8-10),maybe a bit expencive, but absolutelly worth the price in my opinion! They truly go out of their way to help you with whatever you need. It's only a short walk from Habana Vieja, and it's only about 100 meters from Casa del la Musica in one direction and Malecón in the other.
