I
stayed with Luis Miguel during my all too brief visit to
Cuba. From the very first moment I walk in Luis’ wonderful
home, I was greeted with amazing hospitality and felt immediately
welcome with him. For me my experience in Cuba would have
been very different if it was not for Luis and his amazing
family. They were exactly what I had come to Cuba to find,
genuine and authentic I will never forget them. Luis spoke
wonderful English, a great relief to me, he was very informative,
insisting on telling me all the insider knowledge a traveller
to Cuba should know upon my arrival. He also told me about
all the places he would recommend I visit and even organized
Salsa lessons for myself a special treat I would not have
been able to find myself.
Luis
to me will be a friend for life… my travels turn somewhat
scary when I went to leave Cuba finding my flight had been
cancelled without any notification, and without any Spanish
or other contacts within Cuba I was stranded. This is where
Luis became my saviour and after only knowing me a couple
of days he came to my aid, he picked me up from the airport,
gave me a home and helped me translate to the airline to
get back home. Luis is true example of the wonderful Cuban
people and the experience that is going to Cuba. I will
be eternally grateful for Luis and his amazing heart. Any
one who stays with Luis will be truly privileged.
Thankyou
for everything Luis

This was just as good as all the recommendations suggested!
Luis Miguel was an excellent starting point in Havana –
not only a warm and friendly host, but helpful in so many
ways. This man epitomizes the word “networker”,
and whatever you are looking for, he can probably hook you
up with what you need. As well, he takes it as his personal
responsibility to make visit suggestions for Havana and
give out tips for travelling safely. If he can’t accommodate
you, he will find someone who can – he always has
a plan B!! A beautiful and very comfortable home, and lovely
people. Highly recommended!!
Thank
you!

| Just
thought I would drop a line to let you know what a fantastic
time myself and my daughter had staying at Luis’ home.
We were there for 5 days in July. His hospitality is great.
Nothing was too much for him to help us with. He escorted
us to a local hotel to change our money, gave us advice
about what to and what not to take out with us when sightseeing,
gave information about local areas such as Vedado and Havana
Vieja and was generally a mine of information. The casa
is a beautiful colonial house which he is rightly very proud
of. It is spotlessly clean and just a few steps from the
Malecon in one direction and a great local shopping centre
in the other. Walking to the end of the shopping area brings
you out right next to the Hotel Inglaterra and Parque Central.
No wonder its called Centro! It is a perfect place to stay
for sightseeing because everything is close by. The only
thing you have to watch out for is the wonderfully delicious
meals his wife makes. Just let Luis know what you want for
dinner and he will try his very best to get it for you.
Huge breakfasts and three course dinners! I managed to put
on a few extra pounds despite all the walking around we
did! Luis’ mojitos were great too. I would certainly
recommend Casa Luis-Miguel. It was wonderful!

trip February 2007
I myself stayed at this casa particular of Luis Miguel and
must say it is getting better every time I visit Luis. He
renewed the bathrooms with a apecial water system and for
that reason ALOT of water is coming through the shower head
... in Cuba you won't find a better shower than this casa
has!!!
Luis and his family are very kind, helpfull and love to
have a chat with you.
Great place and I highly recommend it.

Member: Trythisagain: I stayed at his neighbor’s
place because Luis’ was full, but I spent time there
and Luis toured me around the place...beautiful with lots
of antiques and all the amenities. It is a very short block
from Malecon with several tavernas and a convenience shops
(in the Cuban sense) nearby. It is in Centro so you have
to be up for that, but I had no problems in the neighborhood.
Luis
is a great guy. He is an extremely busy and hard working
fellow who still has time to be generous in helping you
in town.

Planet ThornTree July 2006:
Member Bassbarr: I just returned from 15 days in
Havana. I stayed at Casa Luis Miguel--Campanario and San Lazaro
(1 block from Malecon)
I could'nt have asked for a better experience. First of all,
the 2 bedrooms and new bathroom are quiet and clean. There
also is a refrigerator and more importantly, AIR CONDITIONING
which works great. A huge breakfast of different fruit, eggs,
awesome coffee, bread and smoothy is $4. And Luis's wife's
dinner is fantastic not too mention only $8. She knows how
to feed her guests! My
heart was giving me some problems and I had to visit Cire
Garcia (foreigner's hospital). Luis came with me to the
hospital, spent 4 hours there, and translated for me. Not
to mention, his lovely mother has been working there for
over 30 years so she made sure I was takin care of! They
really treated me like family and made sure that I was doin
alright everyday.
Luis
also arranged for a friend to take us to Playas del Este
and picked us up 5 hours later which was cool. I almost
forgot to mention that Luis speaks english very well....I
wanted to practice my Spanish but I think he preferred speaking
English with me.
The
location was perfect for me as well. There is a Cadeca 3
blocks away, and San Lazaro is at the corner so finding
a driver or taxi is no problem.
I
look forward to returning this winter and will definately
stay with Luis.
