Cultivation
work
It is a work
of great importance for the future development of the plantation. The
cultivation consists on crumbling the soil of the ridge, to eliminate
the overgrowths and to conserve a loose and porous soil in order to help
the development of the radical system. Also, this work allows to hill
earth around the plant protecting it against affectations in the stem
due to the wind, during the first phase of growth and to favor the development
of adventitious roots.
These works
are carried out before the covering of the furrow (12-15 days after the
plantation), first hilling, (between 18-20 days of having planted) and
second hilling, to carry out it between 25 and 30 days after the plantation. |

-
Second hilling. Should be carried out between 25 and 30 days
after the plantation. If rains take place after the first hilling we must
use the cultivating machine at least once. This work can be carried out
with animal or mechanic traction and we should keep in mind that, at this
time, the radical system begins to have certain development for what the
implement that is used can not cause the pruning of the roots.
